We travel 30 miles for the food here, fish and chips are excellent but seafood dishes are great value for money. Wines and beers good choice to suit all tastes. Waitresses friendly and helpful too. Recommended great value for money, recommend booking a table, it is busy ask for table at window for great views over estuary, you might be... More

We found the Ship whilst looking for somewhere that was happy to have our dog too. My husband really enjoyed his fish and chips and I loved the Arbroath smokey salad. Some of the staff were friendly, some weren't! but that didn't bother us. It helped that it was a lovely sunny day as there was limited outside space.

On the recommendations of our B & B hosts we drove down to this pub by the water. Large portions of pub food and very tasty

Had lunch today at the Ship Inn, Broughty Ferry. We ate upstairs in the restaurant. The fish pie was sublime- full of salmon, haddock and tiger prawns. Delicious! My dad had the steak pie which he said was great. The veg was plentiful, and the home-made chips, fresh and tasty. Great value. The service was excellent. And with a view... More

Having been turned away from our first choice because it was "after 8", we found our way to The Ship. Friendly welcome, a bit of banter, grand guest ales and then up the stairs. Characterful setting, right on the beach. Get rid of the street light and it would be perfect. We shared prawn filo rolls, smoked fish ramekin and... More

We visited this restaurant for the first time today, Sunday, and had a very enjoyable lunch, choosing from a varied menu that included both meat and fish dishes. One of our party chose the "half fish-half scampi" which was a whole fish in batter and around six pieces of scampi, with chips and a choice of salad or peas, and... More

sat outside at the pavement tables last week and had a brilliant pot of fresh Scottish mussels accompanied with lovely chunky chips, could not fault the service, food or the reasonable price. If it's seafood you are after the Ship is the "plaice " to visit, fresh crab, Arbroath smokies, langoustines and much more on offer. not only that but... More

Ate here recently and loved it. My boyfriend often drinks in the bar downstairs but this was the first time we had food there. Staff attentive, cheery and friendly. Lovely view across the Tay. Great choice of food and was lovely. I had fish & chips and my only complaint was that I'd viewed the menu online and was looking... More

The Ship, has the advantage of a superb setting right on the waterfront: it doesn't waste it. The building achieves what so many pubs attempt but can't quite pull off, in striking an excellent balance between the old fashioned and the modern. All the other balances seem to work too-- e.g. between restaurant and bar and between price and value... More
