Not the run of the mill dishes.

Our umpteenth visit didn't disappoint. We shared our favourite starter, chilli chicken livers on rotti bread (if you like liver you should try this). I had trout curry with some lentil dahl, not sure they went together but loved the fish. Husband had chicken tikka masala. All was served promptly... read more

Have eaten here a few times and always a very high standard. The menu is consistent so you get to know your favourites and are able to look forward to your meal. Service is excellent and friendly and feels like a nice community restuarant, spending time with friends.

Stopped or at this restaurant with my friend Jay from India while on a quick trip of Scotland. The thought that my old town of birth might come good in the food scene was soon dissuaded by dishes from this restaurant. Tandoor was bland & under cooked. Main dishes of chicken & lamb had no signature to them, all tasted... More

The Malabar is excellent and it is always excellent - we've been on a number of occasions and it never disappoints. The food is authentic - I suspect that many of the people who didn't enjoy it prefer the repeatable-British-take-on-Indian-stuff-swimming-in-sauce type thing. If you do go, then try some of the more obscure things Chemeen and Uppem and the chicken... More

A family group of 4 of us ate here last week, and only 1 of the 4 could eat their main main, the starters were all fine, but the main meals lacked any sort of taste, there was a lack of spices, and virtually no sauce, all were very dry and tasteless We were really dissapointed as friends who had eaten... I have visited the Malabar on several occasions with friends, and have never been disappointed. The dining experience is always pleasant, the staff are friendly (without being familiar) and efficient, and the food is good. Unlike many Indian restaurants, the Malabar does not boast a hugely extensive menu. This is a plus, from the point of view that you have... More

Got a take away from here last night. Service was very quick and my food did not take long. Food tasted nice but I have tasted better. I have had more food for my money from other restaurants. Would visit again, looks nice to have a sit in meal in.

Group of 7 friends out for meal, Had to keep jackets on during the whole meal as it was very cold & draughty :-( The food was not what we were used to for an indian restaurant & some of us were very disappointed portion wise :-(

The Malabar is a regular haunt. Very dependable. My favourite is the fishcurry when it is trout. Highly recommended

The Malabar is a favourite. We've eaten here many times and it is always good. We especially like the lamb bhuna and the subsie. Tonight we also ordered kulfi, which I adore. This was disappointing - definitely not home made, unlike the rest of the food. But we'll be back. It remains a worthwhile visit. And the waiting staff were... More
