We didn't stay on the hotel but ate on a Monday night. It was pretty busy - surprisingly so for a Monday in a restaurant, but there is plenty of space. The food was very good, we were not expecting more than a decent meal but it surpassed expectations and was very tasty, well presented and service was spot on.... More

We had two evening meals here recently and we both really enjoyed every course - the food was exceptional and the staff were attentive even though they were clearly busy.

Ordered warm bang bang chicken and noodles with salad and chips. Delicious meal, 9 large pieces of chicken on skewers, huge salad, noodles and fries - couldn't finish it all and certainly could not consider a dessert. Douglas, mine host, gave us local brochure when he heard we were on holiday and marked possible places of interest. Staff all friendly... More

Visited tonight after reading it was dog friendly! It wasn't. We had to leave dog at home to eat in the bar. Alas. Food was ok - some interesting menu choices but on the expensive side . However what let this place down big time was the service. It wasn't Overly busy but of the 3 waitresses only one actually... More

Many thanks for taking the time to review us. I'm sorry if you were misled on our Dog Friendly policy - we do allow dogs in the hotel, in some of the bedrooms, in the garden, in the Sports Bar and in the Burns room lounge - but just not in the main Bar Lounge and Restaurant where food is... More

I have stayed at the Selkirk Arms on two occasions and love it. Can't beat their breakfasts! Have eaten there more times than I can remember and the food has always been excellent! I have tried a selection of started, to the full three courses, including dessert and the wines! Everyone is helpful, and when staying with my niece, when... More

We ate at this restaurant on both nights of a recent stay in Kirkcudbright. I was happy to go twice, but it was really my companions that drove the decision. We ate in the bar, not the restaurant and the decor was very pleasant. I'm not sure if you need to book the restaurant as it did seem quite busy... More

We called in for lunch whilst family members were staying at a nearby holiday let (Cherry Tree Cottage) and this was for them a return visit such was their previous satisfaction. There’s a restaurant, a lounge bar and a beer garden at the hotel. We were booked into the lounge bar which, in keeping with it’s Georgian heritage, has walls... More

Nearing the end of our holiday we wanted a simple, relaxing last evening meal. At first we were a little over-faced by the Selkirk Arms, but were soon at ease. Excellent choice of menu and really enjoyable, well cooked meal. Highly recommended.

Ate here for Sunday lunch. Really good value and great food. Staff very friendly and dog friendly too. Nice little garden to the rear. Would have loved to have returned but ran out of time. The haggis tower starter was delicious and the beef not over cooked, although i prefer mine a bit rarer.

I can't resist a man in a kilt and was delighted to find one of the team in full regalia! We were recommended to eat here by a local and were not disappointed. Arrive early if you don't have a reservation as it gets really busy. There's a restaurant and a bistro area. The quality of the ingredients was perfect... More
