Always delicious food. Make sure you book in advance as the restaurant gets busy. They serve the same food in the bar/bistro and these rooms are fine, but we prefer the main restaurant which is a lovely room with lots of local artwork on the walls. It was the Kirkcudbright Jazz Festival when we last visited so we enjoyed the... More

We ate at the Selkirk Arms twice last week while on holiday in the area (once for lunch and once for dinner). Both times we sat in the bar area, which actually had a really relaxed and friendly atmosphere. All of the staff were cheery and helpful. A slight downside was the wait for our meals both times (just a... More

Just had Sunday lunch here. 3 courses for £17.95. Great value. I had a beautiful light feta salad followed by a lovely roast beef dinner and then a gorgeous lemon and lychee creme brûlée. The food was excellent and the service very good. Thanks to an excellent staff member (tall guy!) who was working behind the bar who let me... More

First class customer service from friendly likeable staff. The food is excellent, even the so called 'pub favourites'. A big bonus is the attractive and peaceful sun trap of a garden.

A personal and warm welcome, advice about the real ales, tasty home made tartare sauce and a visit from the chef himself - these are some of the little things that make 'The Selkirk Arms' stand out from the crowd. The owners and staff at 'The Selkirk Arms' serve delicious, locally sourced food, well prepared and well cooked. We will... More

The Selkirk Arms was recommended to us and we enjoyed a good dinner and evening there. It was rather busy, so we took a table in the bar itself. We shared a cold, seafood platter which was fresh and delicious. For main course, we had wild sea bass and fish & chips - both were well-prepared and -presented. There was... More

Just stopped for lunch here. We had a nice selection from which to chose the scallops and their Scottish version of Welsh rarebit were very good. Recommended

We called in to make a booking for the following day at 7.30. The very friendly chap advised us not to miss the Scottish evening in the town and to make our reservation for 8.15. When we arrived at 8.10 we were shown to a table and given menus. Some twenty minutes the woman in charge of the waiting staff... More

We stopped in here for dinner unplanned, after finding ourselves in Kirkcudbright while exploring the Galloway area whilst on holiday. We parked at the visitor information centre and this was one of the recommendations from the lady who worked there. After a short walk, we arrived to be greeted by a very friendly and welcoming host and we decided to... More
