We booked this as part of a deal and after 3 calls and 4 emails eventually received a confirmation of booking to my work e-mail address, still could not understand why? I always like a confirmation before I make a long drive to where I am meant to stay! We stayed at this hotel for a weekend in July/ August... More

The hotel is of a reasonable standard. The rooms are fitted out adequately. The are comfortable and clean. There was a selection of pillows of varying degrees of firmness. Dinner in the restaurant was pleasant. Service was a little slow, but friendly and the food was good. Breakfast was the ubiquitous buffet with a wide selection of cooked and uncooked... More

Recently dined here on a Saturday. Was greeted at the door by being told two starters and two mains on the already limited menu had run out. Service was very poor - gruff, disinterested waiting staff. Was sat next to a gas fire displaying a condemned label. Bread rolls had been reheated so many times you could smash a window... More

We stayed at this hotel for a weekend in June and we're very disappointed. The hotel was clean and the room was quite nice, although uncomfortably hot, but the main issue is that the staff are wholly incompetent. We booked online and even though our reservation clearly stated we had already paid, our card was then charged again when we... More

We booked at aston hotel and when we arrived it turned out to be a holiday inn. Looks like holiday inn has taken over recently. Rooms were pretty average rooms even with the upgrade to exec suite. A/c wasnt working so rooms were very warm. But rooms were clean and tidy and breakfast was excellent at wheelers restaurant.

What have IHG done to this lovely hotel! If you have stayed here before you will be familiar with the previous layout, where HOTEL guests (rather than restaurant guests) were welcomed through the traditional grand entrance to an open and friendly reception area befitting of the hotel's architecture and grounds. My husband and I (and often my daughter, studying at... More

We were staying in this hotel for business meetings and a group of about 10 of us went to dinner in the Marco Pierre White restaurant there. It was awful. The waitress clearly did not want to be there. She was unhelpful and disinterested. She handed out two different menus to the guests at the table which made a mess... More

We have enjoyed staying at the Aston a few times but visited Wheelers restaurant for the first time. Dinner was part of the offer package we had booked at the hotel so it was exceptional value. Service was prompt, attentive and friendly. The restaurant is smart but not fussy. Nice linen tablecloths and napkins. The menu was surprisingly unfussy and... More

Stayed here for a few nights when the World Senior Curling Championship was on. The hotel was busy and a friend who had booked separately was moved due to over booking. The reception staff were friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable. The room was clean and fairly average but the bathroom was modern and the shower was excellent. Breakfast was a buffet... More
