Abbey Cottage is a family owned and run tearoom celebrating 30 years in business in 2013. We are delighted to receive a 'Top Tea Place' award from the Tea Council in April 2013. We offer coffees, light lunches and afternoon teas, sourcing ingredients locally, and even growing some ourselves. We have a good understanding of dietary issues and can offer gluten and lactose free menu options. Situated next to Sweetheart Abbey, in the shadow of Criffel and on the road to the coast.

Delighted to hear that everybody enjoyed their morning tea break! If you'd like to get in touch and let us know when you'll be back in September, we can put it in the diary. That way we can guarantee to have the scones out of the oven, and the teapots ready to be filled :-) I don't think trip advisor... More

This comfortable little cafe is situated literally yards away from the Sweetheart abbey, very convenient if you are like us and in the middle of a day trip. We recommend the Afternoon Tea Experience, which includes a sandwich, cakes, and a pot of tea all for £9. Sit by the window so you can gaze out at the Abbey while... More

Nestled in the village of New Abbey, and in the shadow of Sweetheart, Abbey cottage tearooms is a superb place for eats and treats. Dogs are welcomed, outdoor seating provided for visitors, and there is a large bowl of water for thirsty 4 legged guests. Speciality tea and coffee (I would try either the gunpowder tea or the java samara... More

Hello, and thank you for your review. Delighted that you loved our homemade Banoffee and our speciality teas and coffees. Great that you and your dogs were able to enjoy sitting in the garden - we had some beautiful sunny days in April! Hope to see you again soon. More

After visiting the Abbey we decided to have a bite at the nearby cafe and were pleased we did. Lovely day so sat in the garden overlooking the Abbey ruins with our dog. Waitress was friendly and even brought him some bits of ham. Food was excellent

We always have something to eat here on our yearly pilgrimage to Sweetheart Abbey to celebrate my birthday/engagement. Unfortunately, due to the opening times, I will not be back here until my birthday falls on a day it is open again. We still like to visit the village and the Abbey anyway. Food lovely and healthy.

Hello Sheila, thank you so much for posting your review. What a wonderful, romantic location to become engaged! I think your birthday must have fallen on a Monday or Tuesday in February of March this year? So sorry that we weren't able to provide you with a birthday/anniversary treat this time. More

Ate here for afternoon tea recently and it was just delicous. Our waitress was delightfully chatty and the tea and coffees we had were excellent - fresh baked cakes daily and its always a dilema which to choose. Always love a visit to here when we're in the area as it ever fails to delight. Would thoroughly recommend.

I'm sorry to hear that your third visit to us was so disappointing. The fine autumn weather has been great for everyone. However, this has meant at times we have been unexpectedly busy, with all tables in use and the dishwasher going non-stop. Booking ahead for lunch or afternoon tea is a good way to guarantee a table of your... More

Called in here for lunch. Staff not particularly welcoming or friendly. The place was also quite chilly and with zero atmosphere. Food was average, the cake range was very limited and looked better than they were, were actually quite dry. Quite expensive too. Obviously has a captive audience here due to location and being the only tea room there. Not... More

Hello, I'm sorry you didn't enjoy your visit to Abbey Cottage. We bake every day, so I am concerned to hear that you didn't consider the cake to be fresh. If you could email me with more information about the cake you ordered and the day you visited, that would be really helpful. You'll find a link to email me... More
