Very nice lunch

I visit the doonhamer regularly and I love the place. The food is cooked in the same room as you and the waiting staff are always very reliable. Stuart is a very good chef and I would recommend this cafe to anybody who happens to pass by.

fantastic food, we all selected from the "specials" menu, I had the lamb and it was delicious, also had a taste of the risotto and it was amazing. As we were all on afternoon off from work, we had some Prossecco, we were delighted when the bill came, very reasonable, all in all a great time was had by all,... More

The place is now called No 17, however, I would place it much lower than that in the places in Dumfries to which I would return. The meal that came was stone cold within two minutes of its arrival on the table and was consequently completely inedible. My wife had a scone which was like cardboard, and was also left... More

The Doonhamer has been totally revamped and is now called No.17 still owned and run by Florence and Nick. They now only specialise in breakfasts and lunches and do this really well. The food is prepared I front of you and is excellent. The restaurant is spotlessly clean and the staff are great. If you want breakfast or lunch or... More

Since being in new ownership , I have been here on 3 occassions. 1st time was for lunch with my son, which was lovely. 2nd time with friends on a Saturday night, menu was average & meal was nice, nothing spectacular but as it was quiet we had full attention from our hosts, who couldn't have been more attentive. On the 3rd occasion, lunchtime,a few... More

Good place to get a breakfast. Staff are friendly and the restaurant is clean. Would recommend if you're looking for good decent food.

The Doonhamer is always a dissapointment when we go, which we do rarely due to the bad service… the food is excellent, truly very nice and simple but full of flavour. The service is dreadful – you get the feeling that you are holding the waiting staff back from their other endeavours! You feel like saying If I am getting... More
