One of the best food stops on the A75

We travel the A75 regularly from the far west to Dumfries. We've done all the eateries and Kilnford is one of the most outstanding. I visited Kilnford yesterday. In the shop I was very disappointed to see a very small selection of food from Dumfries and Gallloway. There are amazing small producers in our region. Why are you not supporting this industry? The cafe was okay. The staff were unable to cope with the volume of customers.

Quite apart from the fact that it's also a good food shopping venue with excellent meat, deli. veg, and fresh fish (Thursday & Friday), the meal opportunities are endless, depending on your appetite. A visit to the Kilnford site should never be missed. There is a wide selection of freshly cooked meals, also sandwiches as well as delicious salads. There is also a wide selection of fresh food available for purchase as well as newly caught fish. The whole site is step free and cars may be parked very close to the door.... More

We have visited the coffee shop since it opened and have always been very pleased, however we went on Easter Saturday as it opened and ending up walking out. The staff were setting up the chef was standing behind counter and a young girl was filling the drinks cabinet, we stood for 10ins and not one person spoke to us... More

Menu on wall at entrance is in the wrong place, should be at, or duplicated at the serving area. Food was pleasant enough but service pretty disorganised. They seemed to be continually running out of cutlery & you had to wait for it being replenished even though it wasn't particularly busy. Attention to the details would make a world of... More

Decided to try here again. I want to love it, I don't. Te menu just inside the door is in the wrong place, if you don't know it's there you don't see it and if you are looking at it, no one can get past. Then there's food on a hotplate, with no indication of what it is or prices.... More

Went here yesterday with my mother and daughter. Place was absolutely packed but we managed to find a table. I had the xmas turkey sub, it was amazing! I only had half and was stuffed. My mother had the steak burger as usual and it never disappoints. I love this place and the shop sells lovely local produce

Thank you for a lovely cappucino and hot chocolate and lovely cakes, all done with friendly service and genuine smiles, both in the restaurant and well stocked shop. A treat on a winter afternoon.

Was here last night for christmas carvery with my husband, son and daughter in law. The food was ok but there was absolutely no atmosphere in the place at all and only 2 or 3 other tables in. The staff just ignored us completely. Was disgusting. Lady carving the meat was miserable. So much for her happy christmas jumper. The... More

We visited just before lunch, because like people say it does get busy. There's plenty of choice, from snacks, to main meals. overall the turnover of food is done so it is freshly cooked, but depend on your visit time, items have looked a bit tired so to speak, visited about 15 times now, and only had that problem twice....
