Nice but pricey

The service was so nice staff were very professional.Meal was not as nice and expensive for the quality. The restaurant itself was nice and cosy.

The title says it all. The food was very good and the service couldn't have been better. The maître d was particularly attentive and the ambience of the restaurant was lovely, especially the excellent views over the Tweed.

Only had breakfast in here as dogs are not allowed. Good idea as not everyone animals around when eating. Same menu in evening as bistro so we ate downstairs.

One great dinner and two superb Scottish breakfasts. I had venison at dinner, which was really excellent. Others raved about their steak pie, steaks and sea bass. All tasted fresh and was well presented. Breakfasts were hearty with lots of choice and a good cold buffet table.

Our first night we clashed with a wedding party. This challenged the staff and we gave up after waiting for a dessert menu! The food was adequate but not memorable. A roast beef dinner came pre plated in a soup dish and two easy over breakfast eggs could have been used as musket balls.

Nobody was present so did not know if we were in the correct room. Met another couple similarly bemused. Eventually maitre d Turned up to confirm that this was indeed the dining room. Had ages to wait in this massive room with one other couple for company. Had a long time to wait between courses, the quality of which was... More

Beautiful surroundings, attentive staff and good food on the whole.. grandsons comment (5 years old) when asked how his Bangers and Mash was " lovely but it needed more, much more gravy" Small things such as the brown sauce is poor quality as were the morning sausages. but I would go again.
