Had a look around the various places for some lunch on a short visit to Melrose and we chose The Townhouse for no ther reason that my wife decided she was going no further to get something to eat (obviously worried she might end up with a Greggs on the hoof). Soup and sandwich lunch for £7.50 was our choice.... More

We had a family lunch at the Townhouse after a christening in Melrose, the hotel had arranged a private room for the function which was ideal as there was a number of small children. The food and service were exceptional.

My friend and I visited this restaurant on 10th January 2014 for lunch ....... and what a lunch it was! The service was superb and the food simply delicious. I had the lamb and she had a fish dish ...... both were beautifully presented and absolutely scrummy! I can't wait to have an excuse to return and am hoping to... More

Small restaurant with a traditional seasonal regional menu. Dishes are well sourced and well cooked. Service is outstanding. It is very attentive, friendly and efficient. The wine list is rather good and very affordable. I definitely recommend the sticky toffee pudding.

We had a dinner for ten and each meal was fabulous. I had the duck with a sweet potato while my husband had the lamb dish. Everyone at the table was highly satisfied with their meal. My husband also had the daily soup special which was a vegetable. I had scallops as my starter that were a tiny bit tough,... More

We visited on a Saturday, dining for lunch in the Brasserie. It was pleasantly busy, with a good number of smiling, efficient waitresses. The food was delicious, well cooked, presented and served. Good value for money, we will go again

We missed the early bird menu (6-7pm) but enjoyed an excellent, reasonably- priced meal. One of us had traditional fish and chips, both outstanding; the other had a gem squash cannelloni, also delicious. Very attractive room with well-spaced tables. The menu is interesting with lots of choice. Good selection of house wines by the glass. A good choice for dinner... More

Town House in the Square in Melrose, in the heart of the Borders, just when you thought such reliable old places were only in the pictures. Just everything you'd want, priced to get you back with your friends. Unpretentious standard food, dressed by an expert to give a bit of difference, you know somebody unseen cared about your food. Friendly... More
