We were staying near Hawick on holiday and visiting the town to stock up on supplies. Hawick is nice enough but quite conventional in terms of eating out so knowing there was somewhere a bit different tempted me to try Damascus Drum. It's a great little cafe type place with young, relaxed staff. There are shelves full of really interesting... More

Myself and my partner popped in on Monday after meaning to for a very long time. I used to live in Hawick and always meant to go along. We were very pleasantly surprised! The food is locally sourced where they can which I love and it tasted delicious! So fresh and well made. With a take away brownie for the... More

What can I say about this wonderful little Cafe, I've been returning for 10 years and every time is like my exciting first. I urge you to spend an hour or two there if you are passing . Satisfaction on every avenue.

As ex-residents of Syria, the restaurant name caught our eye on a stopover in Hawick around late lunchtime. Maybe the staff had been working flat out until we arrived and we were interrupting their rest-time but service was distinctly off-hand. More likely we didn't fit their customer profile by being insufficiently pretentious like both the presumably regular clientele and the... More

Lovely food - I had homemade soup and a bagel which were both very tasty. Colleagues use Damascus almost weekly for lunch and are never disappointed.

I visited The Damascus Drum last week with my wife and nine year old son and we were completely wowed by the quality of the food. I had pea soup followed by a plate of middle eastern dips and salad. It all had a home-made freshness of taste and was much better than any comparable restaurants I have been to... More

"the best sandwich I've ever had" said my daughter as we left the Damascus Drum. Such praise should not be taken lightly from a child who has spent a significant part of her life in Mexico City (home to immense and hugely varied "tortas"). If only we lived a little closer and could stop in at the Damascus Drum a... More

just popped in for coffee and cake, nice atmosphere nice food, spoiled by the waitress who was pretty off hand, chewed gum while taking our order, delivering it to us, and taking the money. Apart from hygiene issues, it was rude and disrespectful to the customers. From other reviews, it has a laid back atmosphere, which I like, but was... More
