A welcome change

It's a welcome change to find a quirky, independent establishment instead of the usual high street mega chains. The atmosphere was relaxed (helped by the extensive range of secondhand books to browse); the food was good and tasty and the staff were pleasant and friendly. We will be back!

One of the best things about Hawick hands down. Great food, friendly staff, and a superb range of second hand books. Don't miss it!

Lovely little place with wonderful food. Staff were cheery and helpful, as well as prompt with service. I appreciated that the noticed I was having mobility problems and offered help without being asked - nice to not have to feel needy!

I'm not a Bible Thumper but one of the disciples - Matthew - had it spot on in 7/7 when he wrote: "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you." There I was with hubby in Hawick in search of a good place to go for... More

This small intimate cafe is one of the best you will find anywhere. The friendly atmosphere matches the quality of the home cooked food

The great thing about this place is it's very relaxed atmosphere. It also functions as a small second-hand bookshop and you eat among the books. Pleased to see that the daily paper they provide is The Independent - just a matter of personal taste. I had very pleasant soup, with lovely bread, followed by cake. Service is very friendly and... Situated in Silver Street, a small street at the South end of the High Street, this was my first visit to these premises and it was a very good experience. Went there for a Saturday lunch and on arrival there were quite a few people having lunch in this quirky place. There were two choices of soup, potato and leak... More
