The place is in a lovely setting with the loch feeding the swans and the ducks, the meal was lovely i had the sea bass no complaints from me this time, they also cater for kids with a menu of there own busy place well worth a try.

I stopped off here a few months ago with a few friends. Terrific service, made to feel very welcome, as if we were family. The meal itself was something to remember. Will definitely be back.

Visited today, four of us for a family birthday and .....wow..what a great surprise on our first visit. The quality and presentation of the food, the excellent service from Kirsty made it a most enjoyable dining experience. We are well travelled and were surprised in a totally positive way by the whole experience. The first impression of the exterior on... More

It is always a pleasant surprise to come upon Herges in this residential area - the setting beside a small loch is perfect and the view from your table is of Border tree and hill. The service is really friendly and the meal is as good as you'll find in the area and better than most.

My experience was....nice enough setting for this establishment, The staff were attentive enough, Didn't get the pairing up of lovely home made pâté / parfait and a cold (presumably shop bought) crumpet!,,,,did not do the pate justice. The sweet and savoury just not right. In my humble opinion, pate and hot toast always......

I'm sorry that you felt our Parfait was not well matched with "toasted Crumpets", but many other customers do. We have to try new ideas with our taste buds or else we'd all still be eating porridge! If you order our Parfait again, then we can always give you toast instead, please ask us. More

Had lunch here and it was quite divine with the beautiful setting and delicious food. Couldn't fault it with the staff and service. Not cheap but not too dear either for the quality of food and ambience, I loved it.

We had a great meal last night. The new menu was terrific, the pork belly was great and the raspberry parfait was heaven. Also still some family favourites and we all loved the pizza. A five star meal. Our children were all made welcome too.

Hard to fault the setting, the service and the place itself, but one thing did strike me. Locals were conspicous by their absence. The reason? Edinburgh prices and small portions. The food was tasty enough, but theres a whole 'chain approach' to the place - small portions in large plates designed so you look you're getting more, and you'll only... More

Mmm........ I'm glad that you enjoyed both our service and food, but frankly do not understand your other comments. We attract mainly local people, who regularly return and I do wonder if you have dined out much in Edinburgh? Our prices hardly reflect the quality and culinary skill that goes into our menu. Sorry that you did not enjoy what... More
