On entering we were a little worried as the place looked dated, however as it had been recommended we stayed. The food was good, service was good and the place rapidly filled up giving a good atmosphere. Would eat here again, especially given the great price.

We are on holiday staying a few miles out of Oban so after reading a few reviews online, we decided to celebrate our last night with a takeaway from this place. We're huge fans of indian food, we LOVE a good curry house, so after a 14hr day we were dying to get stuck into our grub. Our onion bajhis... More

Went into the Light of India without researching first. Very pleasantly surprised. Outside and inside looked like the standard, if a little dated, Indian restaurant like you'd find in any small town. When we went in it was full, which was encouraging. The food was way above average (and alot better than some so called high-class Indian restaurants) and the... More

We have been here a few times and have had good meals each time. Visited with a small child and were made very welcome. Food portions good and service attentive. Bit dark inside with the curtains drawn and very 70s looking but at least it has authentic music and not piped in pop.

After a long tiring day when we settled for a well earned meal, never knew we headed for a disaster. The food is the worst ever I had in my entire life. We ordered Chicken masala in which the chicken was not cooked, biryani rice was hard. We literally had to leave the food as they came yet the management... More

After a long day on the road, 7 of us ate here on the recommendation of the B&B we were staying at, the food was good quality, fairly priced and good sized portions. The owner and staff were attentive and polite.

Good sized portions, fair prices and very tasty. What more can you say, other than at all costs avoid being seated near the toilets on a sat. Eve. Not a good choice. The owner ( guy with grey beard) and rest of staff very hospitable and food was served without too long a wait despite crowded venue. And when I... More

Really enjoyed the curry, I always ask for a hot Tikka Masala some restaurants say you can't have a spicy creamy curry but The Light did one Madras hot, it was so good, creamy, spicy and a nice kick of heat, I think this might well have been one of the best curries I have ever had! My Husband had... More

Owners of the Sandvilla B&B recommended Light of India. We loved this place. Be aware: the dinner for three is more food than any three people can eat. All of it was delicious. Friends we met on the ferry to Mull and Iona joined us. They ordered two meals from the menu and were served quite a while before us.... More
