Ate evening meal here mid week while on holiday staying at nearby hotel. Restaurant recommended by receptionist. Not disappointed although as it was the end of season the restaurant was fairly empty but they still do a very good trade in their order in take aways. Staff very attentive and... read more

Greatest Rogan Josh in all Scotland - service second to none - everything you expect of an Indian restaurant - and just a little flock wallpaper left!

My partner and I went to the Light of India on Saturday 14th November for a nice meal having been there previously. We ordered chicken pakora as a starter and it was dry and tasteless, even the pakora sauce was nothing like we had before. I ordered chicken tikka masala and it was bland quite gritty and tasteless. My partner... More

I'm local, living some distance out of town. This is the whole family's number one choice of both Indian and other restaurants. It never fails to meet our expectations both for sit in and takeaway. Huge portions and reasonably priced. The service is extremely friendly.

Stopped in looking to satisfy our craving for tasty Indian food and we were not disappointed. The service was fantastic, several choices on the menu, and everything we ordered was super delicious. The staff couldn't have been friendlier answering our questions about the menu. Also worth a mention is the very modest price tag. I could easily see paying twice... More

A traditional Indian restaurant - a little gloomy as the curtains were drawn and the lights on, even though it was still light outside. Staff were very attentive and pleasant and the portion sizes were very good. We did find the dishes were just that bit hotter (in a spicy way) than we are used to in our part of... More

After reading another review decided to give this place a visit over the newer Indian in Oban. Decor is typical Indian, a little 1970's, but the food is good. We had a couple of Cobra's, Onion Bhanji Starter, which seemed a little small (2 Pattys) compared to the 6 Chicken Pakora my friend received, so watch which you order. Both... More

Staff at the nearby Lorne Bar recommended this restaurant. We were surprised to find the heavy curtains drawn at 6.00pm despite it being a lovely sunny day but decided to stay. Starters were fine - bhajis and pakoras. Nothing, however, could have prepared me for my main course - Persian Chicken Biriani. I expected a typical biriani with nuts and... More
