Description: Named after a local term for herring, Silver Darling makes the most of a superb spot at the entrance of Aberdeen harbour. Built on the flat roof of the old customs house, the conservatory style restaurant commands panoramic views of the Dee estuary one side, and the length of the beach and headland the other (summer sunsets are priceless). A classic French menu is a triumph of superbly presented dishes, singing with flavour. Three courses at dinner could start with oysters marinated with lime and Granny Smiths, followed by pan-fried Atlantic sea bream in red wine, and the dessert du jour.

Four of us ate hear last month and bill came to well over £400 and that included just 2 bottles of £35 wine. The food is good (but is that really a plus point in a restaurant, surely it's a given the food will be good) the service is fine but again, not when compared to the cost to the... More

We enjoyed a graduation lunch at this lovely venue - stunning vista over the harbour entrance and Aberdeen Bay. The setting begs for a meal to match - and match it it did. The wonderfully presented fresh and flavoursome food was flawless - the service attentive and the carefully selected wine list a perfect compliment to the food on offer.... More

Greeted professionally by the hosts. Wine list fabulous range. The menu was mouth watering with local fresh produce and a vegetarian option. The presentation of the food was second to none. The food itself delicious. This was our Wedding Anniversary, they went above and beyond expectation. The view par excellence, North East Scotland at its best. We love travelling round... More

We had a delicious meal at Silver Darling for my daughters graduation. The food was excellent, very fresh and beautifully served. The situation of the restaurant at the entrance to the harbour makes it very interesting too, with huge ships passing within feet of the diners! Expensive, but worth it!

Sad to give a poor review but they didn't seem to care! One of the party said they didn't like mint - and they were then served it as a garnish on two dishes - a lesson in how not to make your customers feel welcome! We were told about a delicious-sounding pudding - but it was then withdrawn. The sole... More

I love this restaurant. The location is excellent, the building beautiful and the view fantastic. The food is always superb, no exceptions. However, on the last two occasions that I have visited the Silver Darling the service had been dismal. Staff have been more interested in their own conversations than looking after the customers. It has taken far too long... More

We came upon this restaurant by chance as we were in Aberdeen just for a day and walked down to see the old fishing village. We saw the menu outside and decided to treat ourselves, we were treated politely and offered a table as we obviously hadn't booked. The meal was excellent as was the service, we had scallops and... This was my first time at this restaurant and I will not be going back, the food was awful, bland and tasteless. There are nice views from the windows, but the atmosphere was uncomfortable and cold, I really didn't enjoy my time here.
