Had table booked there for late Saturday afternoon/early evening. Group of 12 - fast service. Great food. Friendly staff. Ideal if you're just looking for basic pub food - our group between us had sharing platters, haggis pakoras, fish and chips, macaroni and cheese, burgers - not one complaint and only food on plates was due to the large portions.... Old Brown pub in Aberdeen. Easy to find and rewarded for there good fish and chips. Very friendly staff, good portions. (Don't do what I did and order the big one, that's massive) As heading says, if you like Brown pubs with fish and chips this is the place

A quick 'business lunch' for two with Old Blackfriars as a nearby choice. A Belhaven pub with its great menu selection. Additionally a smaller but equally wide choice of Scottish Fayre. Excellent service was added to by excellent food. Very clean and welcoming location. A 'will return soon' sticker which I would urge others to pay a visit. Thank You

We stopped in for lunch because we saw they had a Scottish menu with some traditional dishes. The few things we tried, including the haggis, were good size portions that were tasty. We were there right at a busy time and the staff was very friendly and efficient. The pub has a lot of atmosphere and variety of tables and... More

Cold, wet and windy outside in a dark October night - friendly and efficient indoors. Quite standard quality on the food we had, served swiftly in acceptable portions - nothing extra , but absolutely sufficient. Friendly staff who when they had a chance bothered to ask of the food and drinks were OK. Prices at normal level I would guess.... More

The haggis spring rolls were delicious! The fish and chips looked good but I chose the spicy chicken and noodles! Would definiately go back for the chicken and beer again!

Visited on my own when up in Aberdeen on business. Made to feel welcome. Good, limited, range of real ale, good choice of wines by the glass and unpretentious, well prepared food. One word of warning however, despite the above, avoid the mince and tatties and skirlie. Each element is worse than the other. Lumpy mince, watery gravy, underseasoned skirlie... More

After deliberating whether to go 'native' on the Scottish menu for Haggis neeps and tattis, I ended up going for the Balmoral burger on the standard bar menu - and boy was it a good choice to make! The meal consisted of a gourmet burger topped with Orkney cheddar and haggis with a side of chips and whiskey sauce and... More

On a Sunday afternoon this was a pleasant surprise from the very busy chain bar opposite. Not very busy but a relaxing place for a drink. Staff friendly and reasonable beer selection. The fairly standard pub menu did however tempt us back for food later which was adequate and again relaxed as not that busy. There appear to be regular... More
