fast service friendly staff :)

new to trip advisor but not to reading reviews from around the country. If you are looking for a tasty cup of coffee and fast efficient service this is the spot. Staff friendly and polite. Spotted this small café on the walk along the Foyle's bank and decided to pop in for a coffee - the view is beautiful and their tray bakes are generous as well as tasty - a leisurely stop off for a short break and a nice view from the outdoor seating, weather permitting!

Huge delicious looking doorstop sandwiches, home baked cakes and scones. Fabulous, and terrific value. 10 out of 10 for us.

This is a beautiful cafe in a beautiful location beside the River Foyle. The Counter never fails to impress with the vast array of different scones, traybakes and other treats. Called in with my fiancee and her mother for some lunch a few months back. The place was packed to the gills which was great to see. As I sat... More

I have 4 experiences of this establishment. 1 as a passerby in need of a loo, refused 2 as a potential customer turned away at a key festival time in the city because they were closing soon (I only wanted a takeaway coffee 3 as a paying customer - embarrassed to see a mum with toddler turned away when she... This place has it all. Great location on the riverside. Very good coffee. Tasty tray bakes. And then it goes and ruins it with cranky and idiosyncratic service which can be rude at times. I wish it well because on the basis of the coffee and food it deserves too but it needs to sort out the service issues.

This truly is one of the best in the country. The reason i say this, is for several reasons. The quality of the food, the cleanness of the establishment, the friendliness of the staff, the tea & Coffee is served in crockery pots, no background music bouncing from speakers, ambience and last but not least, the view.Believe it or not... I could... More

I truly don't understand the mind behind running this establishment. It could be such a wonderful, friendly, enticing little gold mine. If only the owners/management/staff understood the meaning (and importance) of customer service. I've been in several times, as it's in a lovely location where I walk, and the food is nice. However, I find the staff all a bit... More

Just arrived in Derry and told our dog was a health risk and the owner would loose her food licence if he came off the prom - what a really really cold welcome to Derry after 30 mins in from Gigha. Compare this with tonight where we were welcomed to an overflowing Bistro in the Craft Village with super food... More
