A rainy day outside, but a lovely warm welcome in here. The ethos -painted in artistic script around the walls - is that being good is worthwhile for its own sake. And the whole attitude of the place is just that. Good choice, value. Quality a little wayward but I can readily forgive that.

Eat here recently with the wife and a friend. Food is very good and the staff are very friendly. They bring their beef in from County Derry (Castlerock) and it's fantastic. Portions are generous but not too big. However, the wine list by the glass is very limited (one red, one white) and the 'pours' are huge (some locals might... More

When the sun is shining, there's very few places better to sit outside and soak up the weather. Great food, staff are all very friendly and the location is beautiful. Regularly take work colleagues here for lunch.

I am so sorry to write this review but I only hope the management accept my criticism to improve. I had heard good reports about the food and decided to try it out. I went at 5.55pm as I was in a hurry and was told it opened at 6pm. At 6.10pm I was asked what I wanted to drink... More

Had a lovely meal last night in Café del Mondo in Derry, really enjoyed the food and the general atmosphere, there was such a great buzz about the place. It was lovely warm evening and a lot of folks sat outside having a drink or a meal. We had great food and my daughter, who is a vegetarian, had a... More

Me and my friend recently visited Derry. We were invited in to have a look at the menu while we were walking on the city walls. We said we will give it a thought but returned about an hour later. The waiter recognised us immediately. Everything he said was true: great food (that doesn't even describe the starters, which were... More

We called in for coffee having read a review on trip advisor. We immediately decided to come back for lunch. The atmosphere of the cafe was very warm and friendly. The staff all seem to have beards and tattoos and the clientele was a great mixture of young trendies and old dogies (me!) We were three generations and the youngest... More

Only popped in for a coffee but it felt cool, arty, relaxing and easy going - just how a good cafe should be. And the coffee was good too.

Cathy was very nice to us, discussing the fresh catch of the day. We were there for lunch but wished we could have stayed for dinner, Cathy having described her arrangement with the local fishermen who bring in their catch, fresh that afternoon, ready for a great chef to prep. The meal we _did_ have blew us away! Fantastic!

Every time my sister and I go shopping in Derry we stop at the Cafe Del Mondo for the Fish and Chips. We have tried this dish in various other lovely restaurants in Northern Ireland, and although they were good, the comment always seems to be 'not as good as Cafe Del Mondo'.
