As someone who is gluten intolerant finding a restaurant which serves gluten-free food is often miraculous! Not only that but it was really good food! I had a wrap filled with chicken tikka and cheese. This simply doesn't happen in most restaurants! Usually I'm offered a tired salad or a baked potato which looks as if it has had better... More

Java's is a wonderful little corner cafe that caters to business and tourist in downtown Derry. The sandwiches are all freshly made to order and the soup is homemade. I can't say enough about how delicious the soup was that I had for my lunch. A refreshing stop for a travel weary tourist to Northern Ireland.

Often come here for lunch when I'm halfway through a long shift at work and love it here. Cosy, warm environment, staff are friendly, welcoming and laid back. Have been known to ask if I can charge my phone here on occasion and its always no bother. Food is lovely, soup tasty and some of the nicest wheaten bread around!... More

I was recommended Java as a suggestion for my group for a coffee in Derry by another driver. Easy to find just ask anybody in the city they know where it is. I went for a bit of late lunch had bowl of broth and a little stew. A very homely flavour just how your gran would have done it.... More

The day we went to Derry I was not feeling very well but lunch time I was starting to feel peckish so stopped to have some lunch at Java's. You were made welcome as soon as you walked through the door. The staff were very helpful and once purchased our food they helped carry it to your table. They offered... More

We went in for our lunch and ordered a baguette and panini with two lemonade. It came to £11. We were asked did we want salad or crisps with it and we said crisps. After a 20 minute wait we got our meal. THREE CRISPS thrown on top of the meal and they were also soggy so had obviously been... More

Myself and friends went into Java after taking the tour of the city walls with Martin McCrossan tours. We were able to get a complimentary tea/coffee, all part of the McCrossan tours experience. The staff in the cafe were lovely, friendly, efficent and the place was very clean. There is a lovely relaxing atmosphere definitely somewhere to chill and enjoy... More

The staff seemed to almost begrudge you being there when you arrive from a Martin McCrossan walk for a tea or coffee. We ordered a millionaires shortcake too- unfortunately it was a bit stale. I'd say go somewhere where your custom is appreciated.
