Myself and friends went into Java after taking the tour of the city walls with Martin McCrossan tours. We were able to get a complimentary tea/coffee, all part of the McCrossan tours experience. The staff in the cafe were lovely, friendly, efficent and the place was very clean. There is a lovely relaxing atmosphere definitely somewhere to chill and enjoy... More

The staff seemed to almost begrudge you being there when you arrive from a Martin McCrossan walk for a tea or coffee. We ordered a millionaires shortcake too- unfortunately it was a bit stale. I'd say go somewhere where your custom is appreciated.

This was a rather unpleasant experience due to a very bossy and unsavoury member of staff ,charm school was obviously missed in her childhood, the way she spoke to other members of the staff was quite appaling, we wont be returning !!

Was in here two weeks ago, got soup and a sandwich with beautiful wheaten bread. Staff were helpful and energetic, and more than happy to have a conversation about the surrounding areas. Custom made sandwich with anything and everything available.

There's always a warm welcome and very tasty food in this cafe which lies just inside the city walls. A great range of food and drink on offer with something for everyone. Indeed, I've never had the same dish twice. Seems popular with locals and tourists alike.

After the long journey from Belfast, a quick sprint up the hill to Java and the most welcoming sight of tables waiting for us laid with a selection of plain and fruit scones! They all looked delicious and mine certainly was! Tea and coffee were quickly poured and the staff couldn't have been more friendly and accommodating! You can also... More

I come to Derry once or twice a year and always head for the Java Restaurant for Irish Stew. Best I have ever had and served with two thick slices of wheaten bread, all for £3.80. Must be homemade stew; carrots, potatoes and lamb, and maybe other ingredients you can't see. They don't always have it in the summer, but... More
