We have dined here in the past, but from our latest visit it might be our last. We called for a coffee in mid-afternoon and after a longish wait we had our order taken and then served eventually. We ought to have known better, but we assumed the afternoon rush being over should allow for better... read more

We have been here many many times and always returned because we loved it! But yesterday my opinion changed, we went in and sat down as usual at the front seating area and one of the staff walked passes I called to her for a high chair and she just glared at me as if I had spoken anything but... We had lunch here today. I had the chicken gougons & my husband had the all day breakfast. The portion sizes were quite good & the food was very tasty. We haven't been here for quite a few months and the restaurant has been newly refurbished and it looks very well. It must have been done quite recently as you... More

Came in on Saturday lunch time for a fry up after my hiking trip up through the Mourne mountains to be served by a lovely waitress named Bronagh who was more than helpful, the fry was delicious with plenty of everything and I will certainly be back.

A nice stroll through Newcastle on a winters day very pleasant decided to have a late sunday lunch as we had been at the strand before we decided to visit again We arrived at 3-oopm and placed our order with a very very overworked waitress who appeared to be running the place on her own taking orders and clearing tables... We had Sunday lunch here on 25/01/15 in the rear downstairs restaurant during a family day out to Newcastle. We found our waitress pleasant and helpful. The food was nice, veg portions on the roast dinners could have been a bit more generous. All in all good value and there was no problem making a few changes to our food... More

on one of my biking trips our usual eating house was too busy so we called into the strand. The young girl that served us was very polite and friendly and very efficient. The food was served very quickly and good quality. Looking forward to return for another munch.

We have just had ice cream from the Strand and were very disappointed. The cones were soft, the flake tasted old and the ice cream itself had strange bits in it even though it was supposed to be vanilla. This is nothing like the ice cream I remembered from the Strand when I was a child. I won't be back.

Hi Aerobird We are sorry to learn of your disappointment through TripAdvisor and not in person. We are proud manufacturers of home made Ice cream since 1930. We uphold a strict process whereby no bits would be able to make their way in to our ice cream unless we put bits into it for example our honeycomb has honeycomb bits... More

Went in on Sunday for an Ice-cream and coffee on Sunday - and didn't really know whether to go to the counter and get served or sit down to get served. So we stood at the counter for about 10 minutes despite only being 1 other customer and about 3 staff, finally one of the staff asked if we were... More

The upstairs room in this sea front restaurant is a good place from which to admire the coast, the mountains and happy holiday makers. It may be a small place as resturants go, but there is a fairly good range of items on the menu, and the staff are friendly.
