the strand has been for many years a good spot for a wee coffee or ice cream and cakes , if you go upstairs the views out over the sea are fab,The food is kinda average so I tend to stick to coffee n cakes but its a good wee family spot

Called here for lunch - very surprised at the amount of items on the menu! Our food arrived in good time, with a pleasent member of staff. The food was delicious, salad was crispy fresh and presentation was good. When the bill arrived I was shocked at the price, it was very very reasonable for the quality and quantity of... More

Enjoyed an excellent, fluffy breakfast omelette, with a sea view, here, so no issue that GF bread wasn't on the menu. Very pleasant, helpful service. Enjoyed watching the tide come in.

My husband and I really enjoy going to The Strand on a Sunday morning for breakfast. Sunday 27th was no exception. We received a friendly welcome from Carol in the bakery/ground floor coffee shop as we made our way upstairs (better views!). Brenda greeted us upstairs as soon as we arrived. During the short time we waited on our order... More

Had breakfast with friends on this beautiful warm sunny morning. With the tide full in and a few little dinghies scudding across the bay, the scene was set for a great experience. The upstairs dining room was pleasantly full of bikers (whose beautiful shiny bikes parked in a row opposite enhanced the view) as well as others relaxing over the... More

I recently visited The Strand and I can honestly say it will be my last. The place was disgusting. I went in and sat down in the downstairs coffee shop at the front at 4.30pm. As I waited for a waitress I looked around and the place was a sorry state. There was several tables where the diners had finished... More

My wife and I used to visit Newcastle and when we did we always ate in the Strand café. We always enjoyed a lovely chicken salad which came with wheaten bread. One day in July my wife and decided as it was years since we had been we should go back and have a meal in the Strand. To say... More

This establishment was an old family favourite and I remember going as a child and getting the beautiful wheaten bread and scones and so on. It has changed a lot. Service was friendly but slow and got our older mixed up. Chicken was very dry. Scampi was beautifully cooked. Were hoping to have dessert but after sitting for nearly half... More

Every time I'm in Newcastle this is where I go for ice cream. I much prefer it to Mauds which is more commercialized.
