The vista from this small restaurant is unparalleled. The ocean lies on one side and the Mourne Mountains on the other. The best value for money is the traditional Ulster fry with egg, bacon, sausage, tomatoes, mushrooms, Irish soda bread and potato bread accompanied by tea or coffee at less than five pounds ( that's about $9!) The refill of... More

Visited with family twice.Really busy but great service and able to find a table without too much of a wait. Loved the soup and wheaten bread.Great selection of cakes, had a request to take plenty home for family members unable to visit with us! Lovely views of the mountains.

Easily accessable right on the main shopping street this cafe offers a wide range of lovely home cooked food. Ice cream and take aways are available. Staff are friendly and great value for money.

Every time I go to Newcastle I love a trip to Maud's! However the service has been terrible the last two times I have ordered crepes and I have had to go and ask where is was and they haven't even been busy!! One time I was waiting 25 minutes while the staff stood chatting to each other!!the second time... More

Maud's promotes itself as an ice cream specialist, however the flavors, or lack thereof, do not live up to the hype. Thai location is clean and bright. Cakes etc look good. Ice cream should be the true measure by which an ice cream shop is measured, and in this area, Maud's comes up short. Most so called "flavors" are merely... More

We ate 3 times here during our few days in Newcastle. We enjoyed coffees (and cake ) , lunch on another visit (club toasties and chips) and evening meal on last visit (beautiful homemade lasagne , chicken pie with chips and salad ). One of our sons thoroughly enjoyed freshly made Crepes on each visit served with ice cream. A... More

I loved the Maud's and whilst you can get Maud's in various locations over NI, this is undoubtably the best. The food and cakes are fab but the icecream is amazing. The mix up is a must have.

Sunday 22 June 14 we decided to travel down to Newcastle for a light lunch and although I was unsure about returning to Mauds following a poor experience a couple of weeks prior the kids were keen so we decided to give it another go. I ordered and paid for my food at 3:09 after 25 minutes my husband and... More
