unless you are going to walk miles around this beautiful countryside then you had better ditch the diet or avoid this great cafe. Banoffie pie is great and the coffee is wonderful. If you can sit by the window or, if the weather is on your side, sit on the terrace then you have an amazing view to go with... More

Cracking cafe with very fine quality interesting meals and deserts. Some good options which I have not seen the like of else where. Tea good too. Very busy but the service and seating arrangements stood up to the test. I was treated and so didn't fully appreciate the prices but got the impression that it is expensive, although this is... More

Visited here in July 2014, as a family of 4. Lovely setting, nice views and option of outdoor seating. Staff where nice, ordering was a bit busy and staff forgot to bring part of my order (waited 25 mins for a few waffle ice creams), but hey we're all human. I did find it a bit pricey, 1 adult meal... Food was good but the place is very crowded. There isn't any air conditioning or fans so on a warm 85 degree evening it was a bit warm.

The vista from this small restaurant is unparalleled. The ocean lies on one side and the Mourne Mountains on the other. The best value for money is the traditional Ulster fry with egg, bacon, sausage, tomatoes, mushrooms, Irish soda bread and potato bread accompanied by tea or coffee at less than five pounds ( that's about $9!) The refill of... More

Visited with family twice.Really busy but great service and able to find a table without too much of a wait. Loved the soup and wheaten bread.Great selection of cakes, had a request to take plenty home for family members unable to visit with us! Lovely views of the mountains.

Easily accessable right on the main shopping street this cafe offers a wide range of lovely home cooked food. Ice cream and take aways are available. Staff are friendly and great value for money.

Every time I go to Newcastle I love a trip to Maud's! However the service has been terrible the last two times I have ordered crepes and I have had to go and ask where is was and they haven't even been busy!! One time I was waiting 25 minutes while the staff stood chatting to each other!!the second time... More

Maud's promotes itself as an ice cream specialist, however the flavors, or lack thereof, do not live up to the hype. Thai location is clean and bright. Cakes etc look good. Ice cream should be the true measure by which an ice cream shop is measured, and in this area, Maud's comes up short. Most so called "flavors" are merely... More

We ate 3 times here during our few days in Newcastle. We enjoyed coffees (and cake ) , lunch on another visit (club toasties and chips) and evening meal on last visit (beautiful homemade lasagne , chicken pie with chips and salad ). One of our sons thoroughly enjoyed freshly made Crepes on each visit served with ice cream. A... More
