As a group of four friends we took a chance on this restaurant as it was our first visit to Belfast. We were unsure of what to expect but after reading the menu we expected something special - we were not disappointed. The chef is skilled with his flavour mixes - everything zinged on the plate. I chose the stuffed... More

In Belfast across a weekend, and having seen what my hotel restaurant could offer, an escape was necessary into possibly a better dining option. What a happy accident to find St James Street South just a couple of blocks away! I have had relatively few eating experiences in my life where the food, wines and service could be called sublime... We had the taster menu and it was incredible! The Lamb dish was as good as I've ever had, inc Michelin starred restaurants. Service was impeccable.

The food at this restaurant is good, the tasting menu showcased their cooking and was good value. At £20 the wine pairings were not only excellent value but good quality. The highlight was the service which was both friendly and professional. A particular mention must go to Claire who was one of the best servers I have had in a... More

I have eaten in this restaurant on many many occasions which never fails to impress. On my recent visit the new fit out makes the place look a lot bigger, bright and modern. The food was super and service was impeccable. Don't miss this culinary experience when deciding to go fine dining in Belfast, you won't be disappointed.

My wife and I chose to return here for our wedding anniversary, having first visited around a year earlier. Whilst it was expensive the first time, the food really was something special and we both felt it was value for money. Unfortunately this view changed upon our return. Whilst the prices remained high, the food was merely average. Not bad... More

Ate in James Street South last night with some friends and was blown away with the place. Niall McKenna has put together the perfect combination of fantastic food and personal service - professional but not stuffy. Deborah (Debs) looked after our table with great attentiveness and panache. We had great fun with her and she was knowledgeable about the menu... More

I came here with 5 friends and we had a wonderful time – barman on top form - had to be dragged to the table we were having such a good time. Wonderful food - especially enjoyed the lamb and terrific service which made our evening perfect. Would thoroughly recommend.

I popped in quite late (almost 10pm) just to get a small meal - it was superb. The beef carpaccio starter was meltingly soft and full of flavour.. The pappardelle with tomato and parmesan was at once incredibly simple and utterly delicious. It was probably the best pasta dish I have tasted in the last 5 years. Nothing more to... More
