The restaurant itself is so unique and lovely! The statues inside it really add character to the place. The food was delicious, with bread and olives for starter and a large mixed grill for 2 for the main, and a nice brownie for desert. It was delicious. Service was average - first waiter we had was terrible but the lady... More

We went for food before going to a gig close by. We were 2 couples, both ordered the beef and bird sharing board. Firstly at £24 i would expect more to share, the meat was good, 1 steak and 1 chicken breast. But got 1 tomato, 1 mushroom, few chips and some onions. Nowhere near enough for the price that... More

Iyou are ever asked where to take a visitor for lunch, just go to The Northern Whig in Bridge Street, Belfast and you won't be dissapointed. A quiet, roomy, history filled space with privicy and yet bussing with Belfast charm to allow you to enjoy good food at good prices. Usual drinks available from pleasant staff. I have often been... Had a bite to eat here last night and a few drinks with a family member. The meal wasn't bad, just extremely bland, tasteless and overpriced for what we got. I have paid a lot less in other eateries and got much more in quality - vegetables were almost raw and the champ was lumpy. Drinks are a little on... More

Few drinks on Sunday evening ,got a window seat ...so great view but sticky and marked table plus floor tiles that could do with a mop but the cocktail I had was very good and the staff very chatty/ friendly.

We have eaten here twice and the food was really nice. I think they need to hire more staff as the those who work there are clearly under pressure. So overall; decent food but the rushed staff and not so friendly service means I'll go back for a drink but not for a meal.

The service was really just okay but the food was delicious. I had risotto with goat cheese and peas and it was the best risotto I've ever had There were 8 of us and everyone enjoyed their meals.

Slow service, poor quality food, many items not available, lunchtime special that isn't special. Had been in several months ago with a group of 10 work colleagues and was impressed by the price, quality and portions then. So met my family there for a 'quick' lunch today just after they opened at midday. Waitress informed us that three items on... More

The Northern Whig is attractively styled and comfortable. We felt the prices were reasonable and the food we ordered was delicious. I would recommend this restaurant for drinks and/or dining.
