Mr JD's has been an institution we've gone to for years. It has the original cafe atmosphere, very clean. Takeaway service fine. Updating its name to the New Titanic Restaurant is a clever idea, but it carries with it though the same weight of expectation of service that one can only imagine of the original Titanic... The quality of the... More

The BFM stopped off out of curiosity to see what kind of artefacts there where pertaining to the Titanic and to see the mural. I went in and was pleasantly surprised to see some original pieces but mainly replicas from models,to cups to tea towels and the like. The smell was too tempting so I had a fish supper with... More

As my wife is Coeliac and this was a fairly high rated restaurant, we gave it a go. I was impressed by the regular fish and chips and my wife really enjoyed the gluten free (gluten free vinegar and other items are also available). Portions are quite large and chips tasted great. Visited again with both wife and mother-in-law and... More

Was rather underwhelmed with this place this lunchtime! I thought I would be mightily impressed, given the glowing reviews on here. Chips were rather bland-tasting and very greasy, too ! I much rather prefer The Bethany which is just up the road a bit, I must admit...

By far the best gluten free fish and chips I've ever had. The breading was light and crispy, just like regular breading. Chips were very good. Portions were huge. My only issue was that they didn't have mushy peas (I prefer over regular peas).

Have been coming here for about the last year or so as my girlfriend is gluten intolerant. Food is usually delicious and staff are very helpful and friendly. However our last visit last week we noticed the batter had changed. It was very hard, not crispy and it's usual standard. Apart from that was delicious and will be back again... More
