We had heard excellent reports for bistro este, so booked it for a special event. The food was tasty, but not extraordinary like some people have wrote, the portions are very small for those who like to feel like they have been out and had a good feed. If you are going in a large group the extra charges are... More

A hidden gem which left us spoilt for choice with its varied menu. Tasty, well presented food nd friendly service. Bring your own wine as well.

Was here with rescinds for dinner before going on to a concert, we hadn't booked but had went early on the off chance that they wouldn't be overly busy at 5.30pm. The restaurant has a nice ambience and décor, the staff were friendly and attentive. When we asked for a recommendation for the main course she gave us two, the... More

Was here last night with 10 people from work last night and the service was great and the food matched it. Had oysters for starter and pork cheeks for mains with a white chocolate an raspberry creme brûlée to finish. Compliments to the chefs an waiting staff, can't wait to go back again.

For what it is Bistro Este is one of the best value restaurants in Belfast. A top quality 3 course meal for 2 with corkage at under £50 I think is brilliant. What made the meal for us was the quality and imagination of the vegetarian options. Though my dining partner isn't a vegetarian that's what she went for. The... More

The environment and staff makes me want to go back, and I probably will. The menu is broad and inventive which sets up a level of expectation that is not quite matched. Ambitious not pretentious. Crab bonbons where pleasant but just not quite as tasty as I expected. The lamb was also good. The meat was wonderful but the shine... More

Been here a few times, but latest was the first visit to their new (ish) premises on the upper newtownards road. Very cosy and dark lighting creates a great atmosphere. We went for the 'pre-theatre' menu which was amazing value for £. The staff were friendly, knowledgeable and dealt with a very drunk group in the corner efficiently and respectfully... More

We always wanted to try here so along we went. Greeted nicely by a dark haired girl, only one more table in at the time. Given a bottle of water which is a nice gesture, and the restaurant itself is decorated with lovely paintings, good background music! However, ordered 2 starters, soup and squid, soup no flavour/taste at all, very... More

The menu is overly complicated and required translation from the staff who I have to say were really helpful. Ham hock terrine was extremely salty and actually not very pleasant and was served with a totally inadequate sliver of something? Then had the seafood thermidor which was okay but served with chips! It was all about presentation and to my... More
