Sadly not amazing

I always hesitate before writing a review which is far from glowing. A group of us visited this restaurant and must have spent about £450. A 2 course was £19.99 and a 3 course slightly more. My wife had what was described as fish fritters or something similar with a Tai salad. Basically it was... read more

We ate here with the family a few days ago. They were very busy and could have turned us away but didn't - nice touch. The food was superb and the staff a credit to the industry. The only small complaints were the portions (in particular my wife's goat cheese starter and the cheese and biscuits). However, my prawn starter... More

I ate in the potted hen on Sunday evening and was somewhat disappointed. The meal itself was satisfactory and I could not complain about the service. I did however become unwell on leaving the restaurant, as did the friend I was dining with. I was nauseated until the following day and had abdominal cramps in the days following this. I... More

Walked pass and it was empty - not a good sign. Ordered wine and dinner. Very pleasantly surprised. Dinner was fantastic, each section with its own unique tasty flavour. Wine superb. We will be back.

Food was OK. They had one person serving and delivering a good service but expensive side orders and messy chips greasy.

Took the in laws to the Potted Hen for Sunday lunch. We all really enjoyed our food, especially the dessert. 3 of us had the cappuccino semifredo and it was to die for. Unfortunately the delicious meal was badly let down by extremely slow service. The restaurant itself was not busy so there was really no excuse for the delays.... More

Booked the restaurant for dinner last night 04/07/2015. The starters were horrible and small . Three people in my party ordered the monk fish. Two minutes later the waitress came in to tell us there was no monk fish left so they were going to serve us cod. The dishes were greasy and bland and we were still charged the... More

I came here with 14 work colleagues and everything went well. We were given a good service, the good was lovely and there was a good atmosphere in a week night. The menu was varied and all available, the only gripe was a few drinks being unavailable. That is being picky though and the staff were very apologetic. I would... More

Went to the potted hen on Thursday evening for a post graduation celebration dinner with my family. The food was excellent from start to finish , beautifully cooked and presented starters and mains . My whole family Really enjoyed it. However upon looking at the bill the next day I realised that a service charge of £21.60 had been added... More
