Booked the restaurant for dinner last night 04/07/2015. The starters were horrible and small . Three people in my party ordered the monk fish. Two minutes later the waitress came in to tell us there was no monk fish left so they were going to serve us cod. The dishes were greasy and bland and we were still charged the... More

I came here with 14 work colleagues and everything went well. We were given a good service, the good was lovely and there was a good atmosphere in a week night. The menu was varied and all available, the only gripe was a few drinks being unavailable. That is being picky though and the staff were very apologetic. I would... More

Went to the potted hen on Thursday evening for a post graduation celebration dinner with my family. The food was excellent from start to finish , beautifully cooked and presented starters and mains . My whole family Really enjoyed it. However upon looking at the bill the next day I realised that a service charge of £21.60 had been added... More

Visited the potted hen on Tuesday evening with 2 friends. Whilst we all had lovely food, we were left with a bitter taste when leaving due to the rude and unhelpful service of the restaurant's manager. When booking the meal originally, my friend had confirmed with a waitress on the phone that we would still be on the early bird... More

On arrival were told we could only have a high table with stools although there were at least 10 empty tables and even more when we left. Not one of our party received the food which was described on the menu, some portion was missing from each. We had a 40 minute wait for our food, sparse portions, very expensive... More

Visited here last weekend as a couple for my birthday. Had tried to book on many occasions over the years but this was the first time someone actually answered their phone. Do this was our first visit. I wax surprised that the decor was very basic, wooden tables and chairs, and the place was packed and VERY loud. No ambience,... More

Our local contact in Belfast recommended the Potted Hen, and we were most pleased with his advice. The atmosphere is gregarious but not over the top. The restaurant works well for business dinners, families, and friends seeking a casual evening on the town. Good range of selections both in the menu and on the wine and beer lists. Our food... A very large restaurant so good for large corporate events. We had the Ribeye, which was decent, paired with a nice wine. The price is good, the service is good so the value is there. Definitely reserve in advance as it is quite popular.

Beautiful food but horrendous service! Extremely long wait to order drinks and food and the restaurant was not busy at all. When finally served the waitresses were most unhelpful and actually quite ignorant! Such a pity that this has ruined a lovely restaurant in Cathedral Quarter. Definitely will not be recommending to anyone!
