Food is always top notch and coffee is always like liquid gold. Also rang for deserts to be collected for visiting friends who were celiac and found staff to be very accommodating and had everything wrapped and bagged for me - excellent customer service which I've grown to know and appreciate over the years! Only leaving four stars as I... More

A wonderful cafe, lovely staff, trendy environment, beautiful food, and snacks and exceptional tea served in cast iron tea pots. Love going here with friends or family and at night turns in to a piano Bistro. Well worth a visit

Been here a few times and had lunch earlier today with my wife and 2 children (9 &4). Good range of sandwiches, paninis, bagels etc and a soup of the day which you can also get with half a sandwich if you want a lighter option. Good coffee and selection of tray bakes. A nice location with seating available downstairs... More

Having had several recommendations decided to try Cafe Smart for lunch. What a disappointment. All the mains are ok-ish but over-priced and only ok if you like coleslaw and green leaves which seem to accompany everything. Was also astounded that they have NO provision for kids...no cheaper or plainer dishes and our waitress didn't seem to want to be bothered... More

Hello Thank you for reviewing Cafe Smart and I am glad it was recommended to you. Although sorry to read you were not impressed. We have a large menu and although no children's section there are plenty of children's options and we cater for many children daily who are all very happy. We invested in both air conditioning and blinds... More

My partner and I regularly visit Cafe Smart for coffee as we live locally. The staff are young but on the ball, friendly and helpful. The cappuccino is excellent ( not the milky bleurgh you get in many larger chains), decaf or skinny is never an issue and the tray bakes are bountiful and delicious. They are open in the... More

We called in for a wee coffee stop, having been before and enjoying the experience. However we were disappointed today. The seating seemed squashed and the upstairs area was uncomfortable. We ordered scones and filter coffee, the scones were nice but the coffee was not good, cold and weak... No one asked we we alright and we decided to cut our... More

Hello and thank you for visiting and reviewing Cafe Smart. I am sorry that you felt the seating seemed squashed upstairs, when busy things can be quite tight but we regularly get complimented on the spaciousness of seating and especially upstairs but I will look into this issue. I am glad you enjoyed the scones but sorry to hear you... More

I wanted to question the review that concentrated on the outside of Cafe Smart. We wandered up and down Belmont Road and looked in the wide variety of shops and cafes on a visit from Newcastle upon Tyne England. Loved it! Intimidation? Pass! The cafe is a lovely development from the old shop that was there and it was good... More

Since my first visit almost four years ago this place has just got better and better. Like their espresso the staff are the nicest around.

I have been going to this cafe since it opened 3 or 4 years ago and am never disappointed. The good food is homemade, from scones (massive and big enough for two!) to gorgeous soup with homemade speciality breads. Possibly better to go just before or after lunch as it gets busy but it is on two floors and never... More
