Absolutely amazing. First class service!

Me and my girlfriend went out for dinner and a few cocktails. Adam, our wait or took care of us very well and certainly knows how the merchant expect nothing but perfection. Enjoyed a couple of hours in this beautifully decorated bar, listening to live jazz, indulging in after dinner drinks, wonderful!! One of lovely bars to go to whilst staying at The Merchant!

Excellent quality of food, however not that hot, if you claim to be the best your standard need to be higher. So no complaints really good meal. Could have been hotter but was still nice. I do think it is over priced £9 for a single shot cocktail £25 £50 for a standard wine costing £8- £15 in a wine... More

We lived in Belfast for some time and came back for a short visit after 5 years. We heard a lot of good things about Berts at the Merchant and it did not disappoint us at all. Service, food and ambiance were excellent. Really nice treat.

My husband and I visited this bar on Saturday with much disappointment. On arrival there a few people at the bar my husband and I took a seat at the bar and waited to be served by one off the two barmen, this was not to be and both the barmen ignored my husband and I. While were sitting there... More

Cocktails extortionate. No pint glasses available when pints ordered by men. They had to make do with 2 half pint glasses. Have never encountered such ridiculousness in my life. Won't be back

A Thursday meal at 7pm found a near empty Berts restaurant. Dark decor, low level lights and soft velvety seating was all nice. An efficient maitre'd supplied a well presented menu card. Two mains consisted of - herb crusted cod with prawn and mussels ; and slow roasted lamb shoulder. Both excellent at £14-16. A Chocolate mousse and a creme... More

I'm an honest critic, I'm happy to pay what is asked, if it's good - great, if it's not ? Well sure! Our night in the merchant happened be chance, a recommendation! We got a seat and four drunks late ( costing £40) we asked for a night cap, 40 mins later the night cap was cancelled via Michael who... More

Great choice of food - Caters well for Vegetarians & vegans. Brilliant music - not too loud that you can't hear yourself talk!
