Just spent a lovely afternoon at Bert's Bar at The Merchant. We had the choice of the Brunch Menu (which included a free Bucks Fizz and coffee) or the regular Lunch Menu. Great food and excellent, unhurried service. Definitely recommend for a decadent Sunday afternoon.

My husband and I went for an early dinner last Sunday to Berts. I had only been before for cocktails and loved the decor and the style of the place so when he booked us dinner I was really looking forward to it! It was early evening the dinner was booked for and so it was very quiet, and so... More

My wife and I spent a superb Saturday night at Bert's back in Spring 2014. The food was excellent and the live entertainment superb. We're just back from a Friday night there and I can't believe the difference in the experience. My sirloin steak was of poor quality and was covered in a sauce which at best would be an... More

I visited this place last Friday night for a drink after being to the theatre and it was my first time visiting Bert's Bar (usually when I visit The Merchant Hotel I go into the main bar/restaurant of the hotel) and what a pleasant surprise it was that I wish I had visited this place sooner! It really takes you... More

I've been here a few times and it is starting to look tired. The bar is still great with good beers, cocktails and a fine location. Our seating was badly worn (slashed) which was surprising given the proximity the the beautiful merchant hotel.

Staff friendly and good at what they do. The décor was lovely and the food was very good. This place is not cheap and if you are expecting large portions you will be disappointed. If you order a drink from the bar they add service to your bill which is always a bit of a cheek. I was told that... More

I took my dad here for dinner this week, somewhere he had never been. It is a regular haunt of mine due to the fabulous cocktails but I had no idea how a 64 year old would view the decadent opulence of this gem. I need not have worried! For a start the Maître D was incredibly gracious, professional and... More

Berts at the Merchant Hotel is a wonderful experience, I discovered it by accident, we booked a booth, which in my opinion is the best way to experience the evening, however there are only 3 so its best to book and you have your table for the night, from the initial booking we found the service to be excellent as... I was here with a group of friends for some dinner and jazz and it turned out to be a great night. The service is excellent, the staff are friendly and helpful, and the food is amazing. We had a table all night so we could stay for the jazz, which really was high class entertainment. I'll definitely try and... More
