Was looking for a restaurant for lunch - the one we were planning on going to was closed but a local gentleman recommended John Hewitt in center area of Belfast.. So happy we went the food was outstanding! I had the salmon with very fresh vegetables. Cappuccino was very good also. Nice small cozy place with the fireplace going. The... More

Excellent food at more than reasonable prices. You would pay double anywhere else for what you're served here. Have had shark fillet/seabass/swordfish at different times at the John hewitt and always is priced £10 or less. Lovely relaxed atmosphere also, perfect for a lazy weekday off without breaking the bank!

A real ale pub in the city centre offering a good range of meals and, in particular, fish dishes. These are not the cheapest but the servings are most generous and of excellent quality.

Travel to Belfast from London 6 times a year and always head here for lunch. Have eaten in a lot of restaurants ranging from well known, trendy, overpriced and overrated but always come back the The John Hewitt. It's small and cosy and has lovely open fire in the winter. Menu is good without being fussy the portions are ample... More

We have eaten lunch in the John Hewitt Bar many times over the years and have never had a bad meal. The food is always delicious. Service is fast and efficient which suits people who are out for a quick lunch from work. My favourite of chicken gougons with rice and spicy veg was off the menu today so I... More

The best pub in Belfast IMO. Great range of beers (and other victuals!). Un-fussy but really good grub and the atmosphere and spirit of the place envelopes you!
