Description: Set in an imposing historic building on Belfast’s central Victoria Street, Malmaison is an ultra contemporary, ultra chic, urban retreat. The team behind Malmaison know that hotels aren’t just a place for sleeping, which is why a lot of thought and bags of style have gone in to the resident Brasserie, a hot spot in its own right. With its modernist feel the dining room has hints of 30s deco in its attractive black and red interior. Curved booths and luxurious upholstery are joined by sleek wood and low lighting while service is friendly yet unobtrusive. Two menus – one the simple brasserie menu, the other home grown and local – celebrate the best of Ireland’s ingredients while offering food which appeals to all palates.

We ate at the restaurant for dinner, and booked Malmaison as a treat, however the restaurant really disappointed us. Both our mains were very awkwardly flavoured (I have no other way of putting it). I ordered the Risotto and it was incredibly bland, whilst my partner ordered the double chicken with Thai salad, which was virtually inedible. The deserts are... More

We recently dined at The Malmaison and I have to say I was extremely disappointed. We were seated at our table for over 30 mins waiting for someone to come take our order - the wine ordered arrived after our starters, and again we had another 20+ wait for our dessert order to be taken. The food was average -... More

Service was good, but food not so good, could be better considering what there is in Belfast. The menu said chargrilled chicken, but when it was served it had never seen a chargrill and this was admitted by the restaurant manager, saying they do not have a chargrill facility so it was just put under the grill...not the same, Chicken... having stayed at the Malmaison we thought we'd get a quick dinner on site. The steak was lovely, service top notch. I ordered a caesar salad which was massive but could've done with being a little less rustic. All in all a nice evening though

Although my wife and I had booked a table for 19.00, when we arrived forty minutes earlier, staff couldn't have been more helpful : our waiter, Paul C's. smiling refrain all through the evening was " No trouble at all ". The background music was a little too loud : he arranged for it to be turned down. He quickly... More

I had dinner at Malmaison Brasserie. The food (angus steak) was excellent but unfortunately the service was incredibly slow. It took 15-20 minutes for drinks (non-alcoholic!) to arrive and they had to cancel my order for bread since it took as long to arrive on the table as the main. The restaurant room is also too dark. This place has... More

Came here on my lunch break for some dinner with my partner and his parents. I was pleased to find there was no one in the restaurant so thought I would have plenty of time to spare. Food did not arrive until 40minutes after we ordered. We also all ordered burgers and therefore cant understand why it took so long.... More

Couldn't wait to leave. Cocktails appalling. Rude bar staff too busy discussing their night off and going to the spaniard to get blitzed. I kid you not. Good for them. Expensive. Give a definite miss, try berts or the merchant which are a hundred times better and have much better staff who know how to fix a proper drink. Pulling... More

Had a late dinner on Sunday evening, 9pm so was quiet. Excellent choice on menus, could not decide so member of staff recommended the summer burger. Great recommendation, it was delicious. Staff were very attentive and very friendly.

We normally go to Malmaison for an evening meal so I was interested to see if the lunchtime experience was as good. I need not have been worried. Paul the Maitre D' was as welcoming and informative as always - he really is such a big asset to the hotel and I hope that they know that. We hadn't realised... More
