Great decor, excellent service and good atmosphere.

My sis and law enjoyed a few hours relaxing in the Bar on a Saturday afternoon. As always, when I go, we order a bottle of Prosecco. Staff are so attentive. They keep coming back in very regularly to replenish our glasses from our ice bucket and continuously filling our water glasses. Lovely... read more

The bar at the Merchant Hotel is still one of the most luxurious places to visit in UK. It has excellent service and provides only the beat quality. Love the decor, friendly staff, cocktails. Always the pleasure to come back.

My boyfriend and I were staying in Belfast for the night and we were going for a few drinks. We had heard great things about the merchant so we decided to go in for a cocktail. We went in and stood for a while before we saw a waiter who then showed us to some empty seats, we were unsure... More

We often call here before going home after an evening in Belfast but on this occasion had the pleasure of staying over. I LOVE this bar! Moreish nibbles, sumptuous surroundings and the best G&T in town. Service is always attentive, staff really make a ritual of serving clean crisp gin over cracking ice, with a generous serving of lime and... More

I am so glad we found this fabulous old hotel, its bar and restaurant. I wish we had been staying there to enjoy more of it. The bar is comfortable, welcoming and makes the best French Martinis I have ever tasted. My friend enjoyed his Irish Coffee and other cocktails too. The nibbles and service the come with the drinks... More

Following a less than successful dinner in a venue across town, my friends and I decided upon here for post prandial drinks. It was really just wonderful in every way. The atmosphere was wonderful, the music, just right, the staff friendly, but with a professional discrete distance. Some of our party do not live in Northern Ireland and had returned... More

London and Paris have the Ritz, Belfast has The Merchant. Cozy comfortable well appointed luxurious up market cocktail bar in the center of Belfast catering for a well heeled discerning professional customer base. Dress to impress as the Doormen are very selective (and rightly so). Highest standard of service to be had in Belfast, if not in all of Ireland... More
