Description: Bácaro is named after the bustling taverns of Venice, they are typically a great meeting place for friends and represent a wonderfully relaxed, convivial and back to basics environment devoid of the pretentious trappings of modern dining. A place where the hectic modern lifestyle can be left far far behind ... whilst in its place ... laughter & merriment, socialising and good times. At a Bácaro guests traditionally enjoy an 'ombretta' (a glass of wine) from simple tumblers with some 'cicheto'. Cicheto is derived from the Latin word 'ciccus meaning 'littlest quantity', and Bácaro is derived from the word 'Bacchus' which is the God of wine and intoxication.

Just returned from lunch the place was empty. Visited due to the reviews. Starter was ok fried mozzarella balls. Sauce was a bit bland and the mozzarella balls no different from what you can purchase in any supermarket. Partner had steak which was well done, had ordered medium but was very tasty. I ordered penne arrabiata with rocket and Parmesan... More

Visited Bacaro a few weeks ago and had a really good meal, the service was a little slow but not too bad. Went again today. A quiet Monday evening, after reading the menu online was looking forward to trying certain dishes only to find them not available. Service was very slow, waited over 30 minutes for the food to arrive... More

We were staying at the nearby hotel so Bacaro was very convenient. The early bird menu was very good and reasonably priced but I could not resist the spicy king prawn tagliatelli from the main menu! The side salads are great as is the garlic flatbread. Recommend a visit.

This place promises so much on entering. When it first opened a few years ago it really hit the mark. The decor is rustic v modern with quirky but interesting wall decor. The atmosphere is cosy. Service is pleasant, swift and attendative. However, the wine (red) is quite weak in taste for the price. Example, £20 for a bottle of... More

Obviously popular, A disappointing first visit which will not be repeated. Although the quality of the food was very good, several options were not available, our meals took ONE HOUR AND TWENTY MINUTES to reach the table. Staff were not particularly friendly. They had the cheek to add a Service Charge to the bill !

Went to bacaro for lunch after being enticed by the lunchtime menu and seemingly good value. As we entered a large party was just leaving but we were left waiting to be seated (or even acknowledged) for about 10 minutes to the point that we were considering walking out (I wishes we had). We finally got the waitresses attention and... More

It pains me to leave this review but I feel I have too. First time visitors and received a warm welcome and great first impression. Had the creamy mushroom Brucetta to start and was not that impressed. The sauce was very tangy to which we asked for fresh basil to help cut through the sauce to which they said no... More

I have eaten here a few times now and love the place. I like the way it has a little bar area allowing you to have a pre meal drink if you wish. The menu is great, real variety for an Italian and you want to choose it all! The service is always good and the staff are friendly and... More

I eat here around once every two weeks. Food is always at least good and regularly delicious. Staff are always welcoming and service perfectly acceptable. I'd rate it 5 stars if all the meals were as good as their best. I think sometimes it is very small things that stop 4 becoming 5. Too much oil in the oil/balsamic mix,... More

Booked online for a table for 2 for a quiet get-together and catch up with an old friend. Good menu, with a reasonable choice for vegetarians and some of my favourite dishes! Staff were new and not really up to speed yet, but they were suitably attentive and with great personalities. The food was excellent, wine was sensibly priced and... More
