Three Reviews in One - but all the same, superb!

The Gwaelod y Garth Inn is my home village local. I now live in Somerset but regularly visit my parents who still live in the village. 80th. Birtday Celebration 2011 - Yes it was some time ago, but the memory of a great evening with 21 guests in the cosy back room upstairs lingers. We were... read more

I'd eaten here a few years ago and it was excellent, so I thought it would be nice to have a birthday meal here with my family. I'm delighted to say that the standards are still top notch. The menu is varied, with a lot of locally sourced ingredients and is complimented by specials of the day, so there is... More

There were 4 of for supper our friends have been here on many occasions, we arrived early, we were seated quickly, the service was very good our waitress Sophie was brilliant, she advised us on the specials board, and guided us through the menu, the men through the beers and the pub has a micro brewery. Nothing was too much... More

We've never been before, but it was recommended to us by satisfied patrons. A lovely Inn in a nice setting. The service was excellent, and even though it was full, we didn't have to wait too long. The food was lovely and fresh, and the choice was plentiful. Only two minor blemishes on a personal level, one was we were... More

We called at the restaurant on a whim as were in the area and it was packed, just lucky finding a parking space. We had to wait a while as the restaurant was so busy but the manager was very helpful and got yes a table fairly quickly. I opted for the risotto cakes (better known as arancini in Italy)... More

The food in this place is amazing, it's just a shame that the waiters and waitresses seemed unable to cope with taking drinks' orders at the table. We had to ask three separate times (twice to the same person) to order drinks. The service for the food wasn't particularly bad, it was simply the lack of care the staff showed... More

This is a popular place. I tried to book for Sunday lunch a week ahead last year and failed. Better luck in 2015. The menu proudly includes a list of local suppliers to the restaurant and it is the produce which is the star at the restaurant. The four scallops (£10) that one of us had for a starter were... Visited today for Sunday lunch, bit amusing parking but squeezed in :-) seated straight away even though we were an hour early. Staff were all very friendly. We ordered beef, lamb, pork & a chicken (like to try it all!) all the meat was cooked perfectly, served with fresh vegetables and plenty of gravy to top up. Had a range... More

I came here twice in 3 months for lunch. Both food and service were excellent. It is a good option if you dont want to go into cardiff to eat. Great views across the valley and local fresh food. Faggots are outstanding as is the fish and chips. For afters, has to be the sherry trifle. Hard to come by... More
