Sad to say that after several years of excellent service, things are not what they used to be. Mostly trivial but the trend is downward. Watching staff dish out burnt toast, various items such as fruit missing from the porridge, disabled elderly ladies dropping things off their tray and staff pretending not to notice....

This is hands down one of the best places for coffee or lunch in Cardiff, the atmosphere is cool and relaxed. The interior design is amazing and the food is delicious.

Not usually being the one to write a bad review, I couldn't help myself with this one.... As visitors to Cardiff we chose this cafe for the nice decor, that's about it. The soup we had was 5.49 per bowl but when we looked over the counter we saw it was heated up sainsburys soup that costs £1 to buy... More

Paid a very disappointing to this over rated coffee house recently. The service was shambolic. I failed to tell which pot of tea contained "ordinary" tea, & which was "Earl Grey". The weak, flavourless tea was served in cute, retro enamel tea pots. They looked fabulous. However, the handles were SO hot, I burnt my hand. When I showed the... More

I liked Barkers. I'd really like to keep on liking it too, but the service I had on my last visit may have pushed me too far to ever return..... Firstly, when customers arrive at the counter at least acknowledge them even if you're really, really busy chatting to your colleague... Secondly, try to deliver to the table what the... More

Thought the atmosphere was great, lots of comfy leather armchairs. The coffee as great too as was the cake. Staff were very friendly. All in all much better than a "big chain" and would definitely recommend

Barker is my absolute favourite place to go. Their chocolate and vanilla marble cake is the best piece of cake I've ever tasted. Their sister, Barker Tea House, also does a gorgeous Parma violet cake! Couldn't love this place any more than I do. The afternoon tea at the Tea House is also so, so lovely and great value!

Madame Fromage in the Castle Arcade, our normal breakfast stop was shut so we tried this coffee bistro a few yards away. Yes the coffee was excellent. My breakfast fine on a doorstep of bread but my wife's scrambled eggs were murdered by being swamped in whole grain mustard so that was all one could taste. No mention of this... More

Excellent service as always. Food delicious and a unique atmosphere. Well worth a visit for breakfast, lunch or afternoon tea. Extra seating has been added because this little gem has become so popular. Also has extra tables in the arcade with blankets for cooler days.
