Canteen on Clifton Street in Cardiff is a fun and lively restaurant with fresh and inspiring fare. The down-to-earth dining room, with tiled floors and wood-panelled walls, is well-known for its vegetarian-based menu, and is the perfect place for dinners and parties with friends who are vegans, vegetarians and/or omnivores. The kitchen at Canteen on Clifton Street takes inspiration from Mexican and Mediterranean traditions, and the menu changes every fortnight. My wife and I have been coming here for a number of years, we recommend it to all our friends and family. We bring all and sundry here whenever we can and no-one has ever left disappointed. The food is beautifully presented, varied, coeliac, vegie friendly and if sometimes downright unusual is always delicious. The service is friendly, efficient and... More

Just back from Caban @ no 40. as always the food and service were excellent. The format of three mains, three starters and three deserts works so well, especially when the menus changes reguklarly, it keeps you coming back for more.

Came here with a big group and they coped well with the numbers. It is well known for its vegan and veggie meals but can make excellent meat meals too.

So I ate here last night for the first time and loved it! I had the mushroom crumpets and the African peanut stew, I also sampled the sticky toffee pudding and strudel with custard(thank you lovely friends) and it was sooooo delicious. Infact, I haven't stopped thinking about the mushroom starter - it was soo so good. The restaurant was... More

I only noticed that Canteen had re-opened as Caban on this website. It's not going to win prizes for it's interior (someone buy a few tins of white paint, please!) but it should win every prize for food and service. Every table was fully booked on a busy Black Friday. Despite this the service was very friendly and efficient. I... More

I ate at Canteen several times and always had great food so was intrigued to try Caban but oh wow - amazing! We were a large party with lots of different palates and dietary requirements from gluten free vegans to meat eaters and all of us 'foodies'. The menu delighted us all. I had a sublime stilton cheescake which really... More
