Don't judge a book by its cover!

To be honest - When the taxi pulled up outside I was reluctant to go in - but as we'd booked and the taxi had left, we thought we'd at least have a look inside. We got a friendly welcome so thought we'd give it a chance. Seems they have moved from other premises so there was no signage outside... read more

The food was just fantastic tonight. A three course meal for 3 people including corkage was £55. The food was very good quality and extremely tasty, with BIG portions. Love it here and the staff are really friendly. Wayne, the chef came out of the kitchen and chatted with us which was a really nice touch. I'll be back soon!

I, for one, was in mourning when I learned that the Canteen on Clifton Street had closed in early May, but, thankfully, Cardiff once more has a first class vegetarian restaurant with the opening of Caban at number 40 on the 19th of June. Regular patrons of the Canteen will be pleased to learn that it is only the name... More

I recently visited Canteen for a friend's birthday. I can't believe I have never been here before!! What an absolute gem hidden away in Splott. From the outside it looks like nothing, even the interior decor is a bit old fashioned. But you can tell this is because every penny you are spending goes on their amazing food. It was... More

This is the best restaurant in Cardiff and personally my personal favourite. I've been coming here since I moved to Cardiff 6 years ago. The reason I keep returning is largely due to the ever-changing menu. Of course there are some staple favourites that are often available there are often other experiments that Wayne has been cooking up. The restaurant... More

as a vegetarian I am sick of not having choice! I hate goats cheese, I hate blue cheese and I hate risotto! I do struggle to get good veggie food where I live. So.......I had the tastiest meal I have had in ages. The hallow I and root veg stack, my friend had goats cheese tart both were deemed delicious.... More

Amazing amazing amazing!! I cannot believe I haven't visited this restaurant before. Beautiful 3 course meal - I think it was about £18 for three courses. I had a halloumi stack, mushroom wellington and a vegan sticky toffee pudding. It was all beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. There are only 3 different options for starter/main and dessert but they all... More

I have been here a few times now and wish I could visit more often. The food is inventive, tasty, real and they do care about the food being served. The choice is ample and the menu frequently changed. All my meat eater friends are converts to the vegetarian way! I highly recommend this restaurant. Go and try beautiful food,... More
