We went here last month. Weather was warm and view was lovely. Service was friendly and you were not rushed. Food was good and if you wanted specific foods not on the menu. The chief was obliging.

This pub is the former golden mile. Visited today with my daughter and grandson. This pub has had it's ups and downs over the years to the point where I never wanted to revisit but a friend had a meal there last week and recommended it, so I gave it another try. The new owners (of only 2 weeks) are... More

This inn has been renamed The Corntown Country Inn by the owners, Enterprise Brewery, and no longer resembles the warm, inviting establishment created by Cyril Royer, three rosette chef, who brought a superb culinary standard to this lovely old pub.It is a sad indictment of what has taken place. The interior is dull, gloomy and dismal.Tables in the bar area are pushed together ,with... We visited this restaurant after a recommendation from a friend. Initial reaction was that the place was gloomy and a bit "tired". However the landlady was welcoming and the menu excellent although we soon found out that not everything was available. My son could eat for England and ordered a huge rib of beef - it's normal for him to... More

Ate here with friends. Not everything on the menu was available, which was disappointing. Also, we found the landlady rather imposing. We would rather have been left alone to enjoy our meal and eachother's company. The food was fine. However, it was not possible to pay on plastic in the day, since the card machine was not working. This is... More

I popped in over the weekend and the pub is currently closed. The sign on the door says it will re-open on the 1st August 2014 with new owners. Fingers crossed for the new iteration.

I had a phone call on Saturday 12th July 2014 to say the current owner had ceased trading at midnight on Friday 11th July 2014 and the pub was closed, therefore our Living Social Booking for 17th July was cancelled. Very grateful that they telephoned. I understand the business has been bought by new owners. When it will be reopening... More

we had read reviews of the restaurant which seemed very positive. sadly, we believed the hype and went there for a family meal to celebrate my mother's 60th birthday. the food was awful. the service was painfully slow. and to make matters worse we were informed that the restaurant would close at 10:15 because we were the only people left!... This pub has always lacked "atmosphere", but it's previous landlords made up for it's shortcoming on the decor side, with a warm welcome for all and good, home cooked food to suit most tastes. It also kept a well stocked bar with comfortable seating for those wishing to enjoy a pre-dinner drink or post-dinner coffee. Undoubtedly, the current landlord is... More
