I popped in over the weekend and the pub is currently closed. The sign on the door says it will re-open on the 1st August 2014 with new owners. Fingers crossed for the new iteration.

I had a phone call on Saturday 12th July 2014 to say the current owner had ceased trading at midnight on Friday 11th July 2014 and the pub was closed, therefore our Living Social Booking for 17th July was cancelled. Very grateful that they telephoned. I understand the business has been bought by new owners. When it will be reopening... More

we had read reviews of the restaurant which seemed very positive. sadly, we believed the hype and went there for a family meal to celebrate my mother's 60th birthday. the food was awful. the service was painfully slow. and to make matters worse we were informed that the restaurant would close at 10:15 because we were the only people left!... This pub has always lacked "atmosphere", but it's previous landlords made up for it's shortcoming on the decor side, with a warm welcome for all and good, home cooked food to suit most tastes. It also kept a well stocked bar with comfortable seating for those wishing to enjoy a pre-dinner drink or post-dinner coffee. Undoubtedly, the current landlord is... More

Purchased via voucher on net. Restaurant is large. Food was excellent, plentiful and well presented. We visited on the first night of new menu and chef. Menu needed a few alterations, more meat starters and when the chef asked for our opinion and improvements to the menu listened and agreed to what we stated. Highly recommend, have booked to go... On entering the restaurant we felt there was a feeling of unease from bar staff as we said our name as it was booked through taste card. Was pointed to our seats by the bar man and was then given a menu from waitress. As this was booked for my daughter 18th birthday I was very disappointed to see menu... More

We understand that circumstances have changed and this was reflected in the poor standard of our lunchtime meal .We wish the very loyal staff, especially Suzanne and Rob,every success for the future. We have been very supportive customers over the last 18 months and are prepared to give John, the returning head chef, our support. It's a shame he wasn't the one to cook... We had heard many good things about this pub, we were told the portions were generous. However, we went for a Sunday lunch with the family and were very disappointed. The portions were so small, 2 slices of beef and 3 tiny roast potatoes, 1 Yorkshire pudding. This tasted good but all we got to go with it was a... More

We visited as a couple on a sunny Friday evening. We had not booked in advance. Although fairly busy there were a few empty tables to choose from. We shared the baked Camembert with ciabatta bread and salad as a starter, and they did provide more bread on request. My husband chose a steak and I had Caesar salad with... More
