My boyfriend and I visited on a Monday night for dinner, didn't expect it to be so busy but that just shows what a popular little place it is! Had to wait about half an hour for a table but it was worth the wait!! I had the steak and ale pie and it was huge! Even better the quality... More

My partner and myself had a lovely meal here and the staff made you feel very welcome and at home. The live music was also a nice addition and added to the atmosphere. Would definitely recommend a visit.

We had a lovely meal - 2 adults and 2 children for lunch midweek. Food was freshly cooked and superb and the service very friendly. However, it took an hour for our food to arrive and it wasn't busy at the time. Apparently it takes this long to cook the children's steak pie - would have been okay if we... More

This is an absolute gem. Inside it has been lovingly kept as a proper old-fashioned pub. It hasn't been revamped so that it's not the tarted up commercial "gastropub" that one finds all too often now. The food is truly excellent. Not a big choice because everything is cooked to order so be prepared to wait if they're busy. Well-behaved... More

Lively atmosphere, really friendly staff and such wonderful food. The menu is creative- I had the most amazing halibut cheeks in a tempura batter as a starter

Several of us ate there at one sitting, the lamb was brill, but the smaller pie and chips eaten by two of our party were very dry and pretty ghastly. Most of the basket contents were discarded. They could have been more moist and thus edible because the baskets were plastic and therefore wouldn't leak.

As on the canal you can moor up right outside although we chose to be down stream in the wooded area. The food was so good, vey tasty and arrived very quickly even tho the football was on in the next room.

Just returned from an early evening meal at this busy local. Friendly service, great ale and food way way above the usual pub grub. We are vegetarians and were well catered for - none of the usual "vegetarian dish of the day". Fortunately we discovered it on our first night in the area so will have the opportunity to return.... It was a cold and wet Saturday evening in March. We had been hiking for 2 days. We were planning on having a BBQ but it was 8pm and the weather was not going to give. We drove down the road from our campsite and went to this pub. We walked in the door to a busy and very warm... More
