We enjoyed our meal so much we came back for more the second night we were staying near Brecon - unusual for us. The cooking is creative and tasty and there's plenty of it. Prices are also good for this standard of food. A selection of real ales. Worth going out of your way to eat here - but book... More

Visited here on 1st September (monday night) from Caravan Club Site, as many previous people have also. Lovely evening, lovely walk and excellent food. Had a delightful evening. Food was excellent. Didn't pay so not sure about value!! Price for food seemed comparible with pubs in Yorkshire Dales where we live but quality superior to some.

Only a 10 minute walk away from the Brecon Caravan Club Site. Is in a rather ‘out-of-the-way ‘ position in X village, but is well signposted from the caravan site. Offers a good choice of food well prepared and presented, and reasonably priced. The food my wife and I had was so good we came back a second night! Can... More

Okay, this review is a bit picky, I acknowledge that before I write it! We stayed at the nearby Brecon Beacon caravan site and the pub is advertised from the site. It is fifteen minutes away down a quiet country lane and is a pleasure to walk too. The pub is set off a country lane. It has outside seating,... More

We visited friends at the local caravan park, and saw the notices for the pub. We turned up at 12.30 and had a lovely table. The pub also takes dogs as one part has lovely slate tiles which is dog friendly for walkers etc...I was very impressed with the decor and how clean the pub was. The staff were all... More

Had a reservation for the next night but needed to change it. They were very accommodating. Food was delicious, lots of menu choices. Will definitely go back the next time we're in Hay-on Wye

This pub is more restaurant now, with little indoor drinking room, however there is a good garden with beautiful views of pen y fan. We enjoyed our meal, however my soufflé starter had totally collapsed, and was a soggy mass on the plate! You need to book at busy times. Two or three ales are available.

WE were staying at the nearby Brecon Beacons Caravan Park and they have notification of the country pub on site - and only 15 minutes walk away. You would never find it by chance - however booking is highly recommended. We were really luck to get a seat in the bar area as we only booked that same day. Very... More
