Good food despite change of owners!

Dropped in for lunch, haven't eaten here since Matt Tebbutt had the place despite passing it frequently. The place was quiet, so there were plenty of tables to choose from. The lunch menu is complemented by a specials board and a baguette menu, so plenty of options be it a light snack or something... read more

Only when we went to pay did they ask about the quality of the meal. They were worried as the chef was away. Next time he/ she is away just don't take bookings that might just save the business.

Lovely real ales at a nice price of £3 a pint; nice to see varied options changing each week. Food smells nice and the environment is clean and fresh. Owners are nice also, as is the chef. Food though is bland, no taste and overpriced in some instances. Good deal on a Monday at £6 curry night, portion good, rice... More

Stopped by this evening without a reservation and they were fully booked but were extremely helpful and fitted us in at a table by the entrance which was fine by us. Very friendly and accommodating. Had soup and a smoked salmon starter, all good. My husband had the fish and chips and I had belly pork with creamed leeks. Really... More

We visited this charming rural pub on a Sunday afternoon in late April. We were aware of its amazing reputation but were also aware the celebrity chef had since departed. However, I am pleased to say it will not disappoint and have certainly upheld its long tradition of fantastic food - well done to the new owners/managers, kitchen and waiting... More

Foxhunter Inn has returned to being a pub and a very good one it is too. Excellent food and drink and a very warm welcome from the new people Sue and Alan. We have been a few times and will visit again regularly. They also have accommodation in two cottages.

Bit worried about what the changes would bring, but no need. Sunday lunch was excellent and so reasonable...not worth cooking at home from now on! Love the new bar. They are still doing work on interior and garden, will be a good excuse to go back soon and see how it's all coming along. Real ales, warm welcome...all the right... More

Well Matt has gone and taken with him any need to travel far for his superb food. What is now on offer can be had in most pubs with far better service. Sorry I won't make the effort in future.

Visited the Foxhunter near the end of 2014 and really enjoyed our family meal there (I did do a review at the time but it since seems to have disappeared from Tripadvisor). We stopped by on our way to visit family on Saturday lunchtime and were surprised to find that the place had changed hands. The welcome was warm but... More
