Its a proper food restaurant

we like this place! Always have and the food is sublime. Service has never quite been the same since they lost their wonderful sommelier RIP. Hopefully a few more mature waiting staff would add credibility to superb food. Well done Matt☺️

Visited the Foxhunter for it's last service to the public on Friday 9th of January and it sure was an experience I will never forget. Due to the weather, the Nantyderry area was without power the whole night which obviously was heartbreaking for the chefs and staff. Nevertheless, they acted in the most professional manner and improvised in the best... More

Stayed at the Foxhunter cottage with my partner and had our evening meal in the restaurant - what a treat it was! Service was great, we were treated like old friends. The food was amazing and the portions were hearty. The beef wellington was to die for and so was the creme brulee. My partner tried a glass of the... More

Can't believe this will be our last visit! Good Luck to Matt and Lisa with all their new ventures... Food was amazing, sublime scallop risotto and lots of naughty puddings. The Old Stable was a real treat to save us driving home. You will be missed!

This review has been a long time coming but at least I am writing once my anger has had time to subside. I also note this is now closing (NOT SURPRISED!) so some might say this is pointless... but important for me to leave this review for what was a really horrible experience. My wife and I LOVE our food... More

Managed to get to The Foxhunter for one last visit before it closes. A relaxed 3-course lunch, bottle of wine & a "rocket fuel". Sad that it is closing down, but am certain Matt's creative talent will spring up again soon. "Team Foxhunter" can be justifiably proud of all they've done. I will remember this place with great fondness. Good... More

Sad to say this will be our last visit to this excellent restaurant . Today it was up to its normal standard , started with a kir as we made our menu selection .My wife started with the terrine , my son had the duck rilletts and I had the dexter meatballs tagliatelle , then each a different main with... Went on New Years Eve. Wonderful greeting with champagne, fantastic menu, difficult to choose what to eat. The sad news is that they are closing as Matt the owner and chef is off to Mexico with work. Where are we going to go now? I think they are closing by the 11th January 2015, so if you have not been... More
