We visited the Foxhunter for a special occasion and won't return anytime soon. This is our experience: * On entering the restaurant were not warmly welcomed * We were asked to wait in the entrance seating area which was too cold and were left seated there (all be it with menus) for circa 15 minutes when the restaurant was not... Recently returned to the Foxhunter for a lovely night out with my family. The food as always did not disappoint- particularly the starter of wild garlic soup and the hake for my mains! My mother is a Coeliac and the chefs were very accommodating to her dietary needs by providing her with gluten free bread- not many restaurants would go... More

The Foxhunter has always been a very special place to eat. We have eaten here many times and the food just gets better. We had Sunday Lunch in a busy restaurant which included risotto - which was as always sublime. The pork and roast beef for main courses were cooked beautifully and the local beef was mouthwatering. The deserts were... More

Treated to a fabulous Sunday lunch at The Foxhunter on Mothers Day. They were packed but the service was still very good. All the Mum's were given a pot of spring flowers. We have had Sunday lunch here before and the roasts are always excellent. Kids were well looked after with a special menu for them.

We booked the Foxhunter to celebrate a 30th Birthday and wanted a treat. When we arrived a little early (7pm) front of house were clearly unprepared with the chef appearing to give us menus. We were told the menus were hot off the press so "be careful not to get inky fingers". We took this in just and ordered olives... More

Wanted to come here for a while and booked lunch here on a wet and windy January lunchtime, just after Xmas and we were one of only two tables (it was time of year, Im sure!). Had a set 2 course lunch menu which was extremely tasty and for we ate, good value. Really good dishes, using fine ingredients, cooked... More

We went to the Foxhunter for a Saturday evening meal. We booked well in advance expecting it to be very busy but it was less than half full. We had read various reviews but went will open minds. The menu was quite short (not necessarily a bad thing). We chose two starters, the two fish dishes for main courses and... More

I was very much looking forward to Sunday lunch here. It is in a lovely location and the restaurant was comfortable. The service was ok perhaps a bit brusque, the waitress wanted to clear my starter cutlery after she had put down my main course there were quite a few empty tables so they were not under pressure. They brought... More

Have visited the Foxhunter previously in the evening so this was the first visit for Sunday lunch. As it was my husbands birthday my son and his partner drove over from Bath to meet us. We rang in advance to check out the vegetarian menu and it was better than in some vegetarian restaurants. Even though my son arrived late... More
