This place is fantastic. The negative reviews suggest a profound lack of understanding of what it is all about (and a nigh on unbelievable lack of taste!). Great beer, exciting food, character, charm. And set in the fabulous Usk valley. Very difficult to top.

Lovely experience in this restaurant on a January weekday evening. Friendly right from the word go, we were a group of six who just turned up and they accommodated us easily. Menu offers a wonderful choices food and it lived up to its descriptions, all six of us thoroughly enjoyed our food. The menu was explained in detail. Our vegan... More

Four of us had lunch at the Clytha after a walk around Skirrid. We phoned ahead to book and we were told that a table would be held for us in the restaurant but, if we preferred when we arrived, and if there was room, we'd be welcome to eat in the bar. That's just what we did, on a... More

Nice enough pub and the guest ales are lovely. The menu is unusual though so if you like your food simple don't go here. They also have a lot of dogs walking around.

This pub is in a lovely setting and has a nice atmosphere inside. Breads were lovely and soup to start was nice. Those who had roasts looked like they made the right choice. My fish pasta dish was really strange as the pasta, fish and sauce were served separately so the fish arrived dry whilst the pasta was cold, so... More

I really enjoy going to this pub / restaurant. It's not perfect, it's a little quirky but always fun. Go with the right attitude and you will have fun too. There is usually an excellent selection of beers and the menu is extensive and interesting.

The Clytha arms is always our place of choice for our rare nights out. The Pub itself is homely and both rooms have a wood fire which makes it feel warm and cosy, the staff have always been brilliant, friendly and efficient. Even though the menu boasts some wonderful dishes, we always end up having the same thing and each... More

You know, the food, when it finally came, was quite good. They have some reputation for fish and we had a nice john dory with scallops, (£16.95) though my partner felt it was overcooked. So a good three stars for the food, but oh dear the wait. We were sat at a rather grubby table in the saloon bar and... More

The management here are loosing sight of what a customer is looking for at a restaurant. The prices are not low and this place sadly doesn't deserve the cost. All the staff, 2 of them, we're covering the 2 bars and the restaurant. It was not enough for a lunchtime, especially a bank holiday Saturday. We waited a long time... More
