.... and you don't need to believe me - they have an award. Excellent choice of local and not so local beers and ciders. My Waite and I stopped of for a tapas lunch and it was lovely (olives/bread, mushroom bruschetta, piri prawns, calamari, whitebait).

Met with friends for a lunchtime drink. This pub is friendly, quaint and homely with great beer. It is well kept and the toilets are clean. Although we didn't eat here the food coming out of the kitchen looked excellent. Definately somewhere we will return to for a meal.

Visited yesterday evening with friends on a beautiful summer's evening. Never been here before but was impressed with the selection of real ales available. Menu was good with some imaginative offerings. Would recommend the laverbread with bacon and cockles! Staff were friendly and service was good. All things considered, an enjoyable experience and look forward to visiting again.

Nice hanging baskets is the most positive thing I can say about this pub. Three of us went with the intention of having a snack Sunday lunchtime . However the chef served us our drinks dressed in the dirtiest attire I have ever seen . A car mechanic or farmer would be kitted out in far cleaner clothes. The chef... More

Great for a drink, but wouldn't rush back to eat. Bar is nicer than the restaurant. Kids enjoyed having a run around outside.

Not impressed with a recent meal we had here.. i had chicken and asparagus pie, one smallpiece of asparagus in the whole of the pie, found a bayleaf in the sauce, asked for chips instead of mash, didn't get the chips, mash was a flatened piece of potato a bit like a hash brown only not as nice, for £12.... Brilliant food served slowly so expect a relaxed meal. Seafood was great and reasonably priced for large portions.

Having read other people's reviews of this pub I was ready for the casual approach however what I wasn't ready for was the filthiness of the place; bars, loos, outside looked like they hadn't been cleaned in months, heaven knows what state the kitchen is in. This could be a lovely country pub, great building in a superb spot with... More

Possibly the best dog friendly pub, in terms of quality of food, in Monmouthshire - especially lovely on a warm, sunny evening, but not essentially so. Main meals cost between £10 and £20 but are top quality and a little quirky, but this pub is worth a visit even if not eating. The CAMRA country pub of the year in... More
