Lunch here over Easter. Service at bar good but slow when we ordered from the table. Seemed to be only one waitress serving. When the meals came they varied from excellent (the duck) to great (pollack and chips) to ok (sandwiches - too thick and butter overpowering the filling). Still it was good... read more

My wife and I were staying at Clytha Castle about 500 yards down the road from the Clytha Arms. The house keeper said the pub was good so we thought we would try it. We arrived around noon and were told they didn't start serving food until 1230. So, we ordered a pint and coffee. As we drank our drinks... More

We went there as a party of five adults and 6 children for a Sunday lunch. The people behind the bar (kids) had no clew about customer services or about bar work - two or our party had virgin mary's and were served a tomato juice, no ice, or lemon or anything else - when we asked for the rest... Excellent, plentiful food at good prices, check menu on web site. We drove here so didn't sample the wine. Daily Specials menu was superb, we had Char Grilled Salmon with asparagus & salad, and Bourride of fish & shellfish, a fish & shellfish stew (lobster tail, mussels, clams, large prawns & 2 x white fish fillets) with a selection of... Four of us ate here recently and despite traffic holding us up and missing our booking by almost half an hour they were polite and accommodating and offered us a table in the bar next to the open fire. The food was lovely, good Sunday lunch choices with a wide wine selection. Having not been here for a few years... More

Four of us well travelled 60 plus year old foodies visited for Sunday lunch. Nice atmosphere in the two bar and lounge rooms with open fires and an excellent selection of real ales so well done. Our starters were good but we were all let down by the main courses, the beef was tough and no seasoning, rabbit was ok... More

Stopped here for a spot of liquid refreshment. Pleasantly surprised. Quirky style, good pint, dirty wellies and dogs welcome. Menu looked interesting, will definitely come back to sample the food at some point.

This place is fantastic. The negative reviews suggest a profound lack of understanding of what it is all about (and a nigh on unbelievable lack of taste!). Great beer, exciting food, character, charm. And set in the fabulous Usk valley. Very difficult to top.

Lovely experience in this restaurant on a January weekday evening. Friendly right from the word go, we were a group of six who just turned up and they accommodated us easily. Menu offers a wonderful choices food and it lived up to its descriptions, all six of us thoroughly enjoyed our food. The menu was explained in detail. Our vegan... More

Four of us had lunch at the Clytha after a walk around Skirrid. We phoned ahead to book and we were told that a table would be held for us in the restaurant but, if we preferred when we arrived, and if there was room, we'd be welcome to eat in the bar. That's just what we did, on a... More
