Great not perfect and it could have been so easily

This was not our first visit to this restaurant but the first time with friends that we recommended for a special birthday, it was truly missing the warm welcome we received the first time (this was noted by all of us) - food excellent although must say fish at sister establishment the Angel Hotel... read more

I'd been planning to come to the Walnut Tree for over a year and as a keen foodie was very familiar with its reputation and having seen Shaun pop up on cooking shows every now and again. My parents had raved about their visit a couple of years ago and so the three of us were looking forward to a... More

Our visit to The Yew Tree was for lunch. We parked in the lower car park and walking to the restaurant passed the outside loos. It was a nice dry day but we all commented that a visit in inclement weather a visit would be an unpleasant experience (ladies hair blowing in the wind and donning coats before each visit).... More

Firstly, try not to dine here in winter as you will have to endure a cold walk to the external lavatories. Although, generally, the food was good, my starter of pate was served potted yet was not described as such and was bland, far too creamy and badly seasoned. My main course of cod was missing the musseks component which... More

Had a lovely meal at The Walnut Tree with friends this week. Food full of flavour, well presented and with impeccable service (nice cocktails too!). My new season Asparagus was simply delicious, the kidneys were perfectly cooked and the Peach and Cherry Sabayon was my star dish.

We try and walk to The Walnut Tree at least once a year and a beautiful Spring morning was an ideal way to work up an appetite. We were a late booking but they will set you up in the bar if the restaurant is full. The majority of diners did seem to be like us celebrating a birthday but... More

We booked a table for lunch late in Easter week and what a fabuloys and relaxed time was had. Lovely warm welcome at the bar (drinks and lovely amuse bouche of Asian puled pork lettuce wraps), gorgeous starters, fabulous mains, perfect cheese, fantastic pud...uhmmm. Highlight for me was the pigeon starter, for my wife a close call between the Hungarian... More
