Description: The Black Boy Inn is a listed building which is situated in the historic town walls of the Royal Borough of Caernarfon. The Inn is within easy walking distance to the town centre, and the famous 13th-century Castle. An old Inn dating back to 1522 and with its wooden paneling, low ceilings, and thick wooden support beams generates a cosy 'Olde Worlde' Welsh atmosphere. The Black Boy is a very busy Inn; please do not expect it to be a slow laid back hotel. It is in the centre of the tourist hub of North Wales and long wait times can be norm in middle of summer. Come and visit us in the winter season for a more laid back feeling. We now also have Black Jacks, which is another renovated building in courtyard, at rear of Inn .Black Jacks is away from the hustle of the main Inn . All suites have small kitchen area.No lift in building. Some Ground floor rooms are easy access with walk in showers , 1st floor variety of rooms as is 2nd floor.we offer 24 hour staff attendance. When you stay in any country you must wish to stay in somewhere that reflects that country ,we certainly do majority of our staff are welsh speaking and so are the owners .Meal TimesSunday to Thursday: Noon until 9.00p.m. Friday and Saturday. Noon until 9.30p.m.Table reservations can be made via reception up to 6.30p.m. Table allocation after 6.30.pm. will be made on availability. Waiting times can vary and an indication of any delay will be conveyed to you. To arrange a table reservation (up to 6.30p.m.)In peak season we cannot accept table bookings at all due to the volume of trade.

We went here last night and were not disappointed. They struggled to find a table for us but asked to give them 10 minutes so we got a drink in the bar area. Staff were very friendly and welcoming even though they had a difficult table with bad behaved children next to us. Had the steak and ale pie and... More

We were on a weekend trip to visit a friend in North Wales, one of the most stunningly beautiful parts of the UK. Our first stop was lunch at The Black Boy Inn at, and it had to be mussels at her recommendation. She talked us into ordering the 'starter size' as she assured us we would have a job... More

The food here was excellent, but really, even if it weren't, the atmosphere is wonderful. This is an old, old pub, and it's situation inside the walls at Caernarfon Castle makes it popular with both tourists and locals. The staff are friendly and helpful, and the service brisk and without fuss. It's wonderful to sit outside with a Guinness and... More

We come to Caernarfon in July every year and we always eat In the Black Boy Inn. The ambience is still the same, very friendly and efficient staff, always willing to spend time with you and give helpful advice. The lamb shank was wonderful, the meat just fell off the bone, beautiful and tender. The steak and ale pie was... More

Marius our head chef has really taken the Black Boy forward over last few years .He leads a team of 18 in the kitchen to produce up to 650 meals a day in peak season, plus 150 breakfast as well. The Black Boy retains its base of being a value for money Inn providing cooked to order meals. Thank you... More

We booked a table for 10 of us plus one baby toady and having heard good things about this restaurant were expecting to receive an excellent service with good food. Nothing could have been further from the truth! The head waiter was obnoxious and patronising. A very rude individual who needs a lesson in how to deal with members of... More

We visited last week, we had not booked but were lucky to be given a table for four as someone had not shown up. Staff were lovely and service fast. All of our meals were lovely and plentiful. My grandson had pasta in a cheese sauce which was beautifully creamy. I had a special, a crab salad which was absolutely... More

Walk into the tavern and you will get a real taste of Wales, not just the food but the Welsh language is spoken as well by the staff and the local's. Great service despite the fact it was very busy, excellent ale. Locally caught sea food was also very good.

Liked the style of the pub - a bit bold and brassy like the chap behind the bar, but both he and the building wore it well. Packed on both nights we were there; it had a good atmosphere. Not necessarily the spot for a quiet drink. The food we saw others eating looked tasty. Drinks were good. Bread and... More
