Description: The Black Boy Inn is a listed building which is situated in the historic town walls of the Royal Borough of Caernarfon. The Inn is within easy walking distance to the town centre, and the famous 13th-century Castle. An old Inn dating back to 1522 and with its wooden paneling, low ceilings, and thick wooden support beams generates a cosy 'Olde Worlde' Welsh atmosphere. The Black Boy is a very busy Inn; please do not expect it to be a slow laid back hotel. It is in the centre of the tourist hub of North Wales and long wait times can be norm in middle of summer. Come and visit us in the winter season for a more laid back feeling. We now also have Black Jacks, which is another renovated building in courtyard, at rear of Inn .Black Jacks is away from the hustle of the main Inn . All suites have small kitchen area.No lift in building. Some Ground floor rooms are easy access with walk in showers , 1st floor variety of rooms as is 2nd floor.we offer 24 hour staff attendance. When you stay in any country you must wish to stay in somewhere that reflects that country ,we certainly do majority of our staff are welsh speaking and so are the owners .Meal TimesSunday to Thursday: Noon until 9.00p.m. Friday and Saturday. Noon until 9.30p.m.Table reservations can be made via reception up to 6.30p.m. Table allocation after 6.30.pm. will be made on availability. Waiting times can vary and an indication of any delay will be conveyed to you. To arrange a table reservation (up to 6.30p.m.)In peak season we cannot accept table bookings at all due to the volume of trade.

My partner and I was recommended this Inn whilst staying locally for a long weekend. We were told as long as we were willing to eat in the bar, we wouldn't need to book for lunch, but if we were travelling during a busier part of the season I would recommended booking as the Inn was extremely busy even in... This is clearly the place to eat in Caernarfon, brimming with people and atmosphere. You will have to wait for a table as they don’t take bookings in the evenings but your patience will be rewarded with a great plate of home cooked food, especially the chips which were DELICIOUS! Exactly what we needed after a day of walking!

I've eaten here quite a few times over this year and I have to say. EVERY meal have been fantastic. I've tried most of the Menu and have to say, nothing was disappointing. Everything is cooked to perfection, tasty, fresh and plentiful. What more could anyone want? The specials are also highly recommended. The rabbit legs I tried once were... More

Visited Caernarfon just over a week ago and stayed at Ty Dre Town House which is a part of the Black Boy hotel but is situated in an adjacent street. Ty Dre was a very nice place to stay so my colleague and I decided to have an evening meal at the Black Boy. An historic pub with oak beams... More

Thank you for the feedback , i am concerned that the waitress did not explain, and forget to come back to customer as regards the meal cut off times. We do have a cut off time for orders at 9.00 o'clock at night. But this was not explained correctly as i gather from your comments . i will therefore ensure... More

This was our third or fourth visit to The Black Boy and it continues to provide excellent, generous, reasonably priced, locally sourced food. The mussels as a starter, rather than as a main dish, contained an amazing two dozen of these Menai Straits beauties in a delicious sauce. My wife thought the prawn, shrimp and crayfish starter excellent - although... More

You can't help but enjoy your meal here - the historic atmosphere makes it. I had the fish and chips one evening - a huge fish that was larger than the platter it came on and was cooked to perfection - crispy and flaky. Another evening I had salmon, which wasn't quite as good as the fried fish, but still... More

We had dinner here on our last day in Caernarfon, we ate in Blas, had fish and chips in ainsworths and had an ice cream in palas caffi but out of all the lovely food and service I think this was our favourite. great looking pub inside the walls of the castle, and great drink selection, huge menu (which usually... We were staying at the hotel and our overall experience was let down by the food. The staff were fantastic and attentive, both at dinner and breakfast, but the chef was obviously hired by someone else! Everything that could be overcooked was overcooked, and although the menu had a few interesting options the chef might have been better advised to... More

We have just been for a meal at the Black Boy, I was ready to give this place a 'poor rating' after having my food served to me cold and nothing being done about it. I told the girl who was in charge of the seating (but allergic to collecting plates) that my scallops were cold and she acknowledged this... More

We are troubled by this comment and have had a staff meeting this morning regarding this matter. The waitress that was on the door has been removed from that duty. The experienced team leader Sian is much appreciated at the Inn .And as you stated is in charge of dining areas normally .I must apologize to you and hope you... More
