Description: The Black Boy Inn is a listed building which is situated in the historic...
The Black Boy Inn is a listed building which is situated in the historic town walls of the Royal Borough of Caernarfon. The Inn is within easy walking distance to the town centre, and the famous 13th-century Castle. An old Inn dating back to 1522 and with its wooden paneling, low ceilings, and thick wooden support beams generates a cosy 'Olde Worlde' Welsh atmosphere. The Black Boy is a very busy Inn; please do not expect it to be a slow laid back hotel. It is in the centre of the tourist hub of North Wales and long wait times can be norm in middle of summer. Come and visit us in the winter season for a more laid back feeling. We now also have Black Jacks, which is another renovated building in courtyard, at rear of Inn .Black Jacks is away from the hustle of the main Inn . All suites have small kitchen area.No lift in building. Some Ground floor rooms are easy access with walk in showers , 1st floor variety of rooms as is 2nd floor.we offer 24 hour staff attendance. When you stay in any country you must wish to stay in somewhere that reflects that country ,we certainly do majority of our staff are welsh speaking and so are the owners .Meal TimesSunday to Thursday: Noon until 9.00p.m. Friday and Saturday. Noon until 9.30p.m.Table reservations can be made via reception up to 6.30p.m. Table allocation after 6.30.pm. will be made on availability. Waiting times can vary and an indication of any delay will be conveyed to you. To arrange a table reservation (up to 6.30p.m.)

Massive portions !

We called in the pub after visiting the castle. The rain was torrential so we called in to warm up. The pub is dark but cozy. Reminded us of what you would expdct a pirate /smuggler haunt to be like ! Food was home made with a large menu. I had a chef special lamb pie which came with home... read more

The Black boy is so popular there is a waiting system. However the food in the Black boy restaurant was fantastic and well worth waiting for. The staff were very helpful and extremely friendly. Next visit to Caernarfon the Black Boy is definitely on my list.

Very welcoming olde worlde restaurant, staff very friendly, had to wait to be seated because they don't take advance bookings for tables. Exceptional menu, served quickly. Good value for money.

Called in mid - week early evening and the place was buzzing. We were told there'd be a 30 minute wait and were given a buzzer. We were happy to do this and have a drink before dinner. We went to the tiny cosy bar which was packed. We waited less than 30 minutes before being called. The restaurant is... More

The food was quite good. The gent behind the bar was helpful and charismatic. Our food came quickly and the service was prompt. The rest of the experience was fairly chaotic. Seating was hard to come by, and left some patrons milling about with their drinks, looking for a spot to land. The approach of having everyone order at the... More

Thank you for your feedback .Due to the busy nature of the Inn ,it can get chaotic at times but we are not a restaurant but an Inn.We have operated ordering at the bar for many years in all our outlets which have all been very successful .If we attempted to change this we would loose the Pub atmosphere and... In Caernarfon for a couple of days for the beer festival, so popped in Friday evening for a few beers. Place was packed and took some time to find a table. The beers were great and the staff very friendly. The food was coming out all the time and really looked good but as we had already eaten decided to... More

We'd been to the Castle and spent a fabulous afternoon there, and needed somewhere to relax and refuel. The Black Boy Inn was recommended by the staff at the Castle. Everything about the place was as described, a fantastic traditional pub with great food and great portions. The service was friendly and attentive. As an added bonus, there was a... More

The only bad thing about this pub is that their aren't more of them around!! Yes we did have to wait around half hour to be seated but damn was the food worth every penny. All 3 meals were bang on the money for proportion and the taste, if you are willing to pay top money for top food this... More
