The Black Boy Inn is a listed building which is situated in the historic town walls of the Royal Borough of Caernarfon. The Inn is within easy walking distance to the town centre, and the famous 13th-century Castle. An old Inn dating back to 1522 and with its wooden paneling, low ceilings, and thick wooden support beams generates a cosy 'Olde Worlde' Welsh atmosphere. The Black Boy is a very busy Inn; please do not expect it to be a slow laid back hotel. It is in the centre of the tourist hub of North Wales and long wait times can be norm in middle of summer. Come and visit us in the winter season for a more laid back feeling. We now also have Black Jacks, which is another renovated building in courtyard, at rear of Inn .Black Jacks is away from the hustle of the main Inn . All suites have small kitchen area.No lift in building. Some Ground floor rooms are easy access with walk in showers , 1st floor variety of rooms as is 2nd floor.we offer 24 hour staff attendance. When you stay in any country you must wish to stay in somewhere that reflects that country ,we certainly do majority of our staff are welsh speaking and so are the owners .Meal TimesSunday to Thursday: Noon until 9.00p.m. Friday and Saturday. Noon until 9.30p.m.Table reservations can be made via reception up to 6.30p.m. Table allocation after 6.30.pm. will be made on availability. Waiting times can vary and an indication of any delay will be conveyed to you. To arrange a table reservation (up to 6.30p.m.)

Lovely meal in old atmospheric surroundings

We had the most wonderful lunch at this Inn. Considering its age, it is 'disable access' friendly which is commendable. We took our 93 year old neighbour and he had no problems - and he adored his meal. The menu is comprehensive and has many local dishes included. Portions are huge - and the... read more

Having moved from the area nearly 15 years ago it's one of the only pubs that I go to on my return. It's family friendly for food in the large sitting room. And there's a park across the road that you can see them from while enjoying a coffee or beer in the beer garden. Over the years the atmosphere... More

We stayed here for one night on our way to Ireland. It sits just within the walls of the old city and so feels quite romantic. Check in was easy. Our room was very comfortable with a magnificent four poster bed. We went to the bar and hadn't realised that this was Welsh speaking area, the staff and clientele were... More

Very convenient location just inside the town walls. Not very appealing from outside but we were joining a group of Welsh learners for a pre arranged meal. The meal was delicious. Basic but good and very hot despite they were serving a lot of us at the same time. Prices were affordable and portions were large. A good deal. An... More

Located within Caernarfon's walled town we visited the Black Boy for an early evening meal on a bitterly cold day. It was very quaint, cosy and warm. We were surprised by the large variety of menu choices including some very reasonably priced 'before 6pm' options.

Back in North Wales for a visit, my friends and I headed to Caernarfon to meet up with an old work colleague. Visiting the Black Boy is something of a tradition now, but we hadn't eaten there before. However, this time, sitting watching the food coming out, and given we had some time on our hands, the five of us... More

Thank for the review. and i hope you do return .Most of your points are fair we do indeed have younger members of staff in training ready for the summer. I will bring this matter up at the weekly staff meeting. Our pricing is on purpose as we have set ourselves in a particular market and this maintains this .Diolch... More

My boyfriend and I were staying at the inn for a long weekend. I had read reviews on trip advisor prior to going and knew it would be hard to get a table. They only accept so many bookings per night (and are always very busy) so definitely try to book in advance as the food is amazing! We could... More

We booked our stay as part of an Amazon Local deal and were amazed at the fantastic value for money! We stayed in the Town House which was not far from the main hotel but had the advantage of being in a quiet part of the town. The room was spacious and beautifully decorated, and we had the advantage also... More

Went there for food only, very good menu with good vegetarian options. A little pricey at first glance of the menu but well worth it. I wish we'd have found this place sooner as I would've eaten there every evening. Nice staff too!

It was a cold February day but there was an open fire friendly service and food to suit all tastes and budgets. The winter warmer menu was amazingly good value and the beef stew was very tasty with a huge chunk of lovely bread. If you want a belly buster try the beef burger you will struggle to leave clean...
