The Garden Hotel & Cantonese Restaurant has been welcoming discerning diners to Bangor for 32 years and remains a heavenly haven of culinary excellence.Proprietor Andrew Lui established the Garden Hotel & Cantonese Restaurant in 1981 following a chemical engineering degree and career, and is now a leading authority on Cantonese cooking. Working together with wife and Head Chef, Alice Lui who trained in Hong Kong and China. The restaurant is open seven days a week with a comprehensive a la carte menu from 2.00pm to 09.30pm. “There are three basic principles that I believe are essential for success,” Andrew adds.“The first is good cuisine; the second is good service and thirdly, a good environment. All our dishes are freshly prepared and cooked with the finest ingredients. The Garden Cantonese Restaurant goes a little step further by offering dishes to suit vegans, lacto vegetarians, ovo-lacto vegetarians and customers with nut, dairy or gluten allergies. We also understand the importance of healthy eating and use only the healthiest of oils and lean produce in our cuisine.

WE dined here after checking out possibles on Tripadvisor. So pleased we did, the quality was excellent and on a par with the better Chinatown restaurants in the major cities where they have to beat the competition. A terrific find, and with my youngest off to the uni in Bangor in the autumn, I'm sure I'll eat here again on... More

I love duck pancakes with hoisin sauce and this restaurant has probably got the best duck pancakes with hoisin sauce ever. The other dishes I've tried there are amazing too though, especially the sweet and sour chicken, king prawn curry with mango, and any of the stir-fried dishes. Even the prawn crackers are special. The only problem is that every... More

I can't say I would recommend this one as there is one better right next door. We thought we would try this one for a change though and I ordered the same meal I get in the Chinese restaurant next door (Eastern Origin) and I was disappointed as it had less meat less sauce and was far more expensive I... An excellent oriental meal to savour. The Menu was very extensive and the restaurant was very welcoming. The staff were excellent and attentive.

I have now been to this restaurant 3 times. The staff here are always wonderful, and the general ambience of the place is incredible. Out of the many Chinese restaurants I have been to all over the world, this is perhaps one of the best. My commendations to all those there, keep up the excellent work.

Very friendly staff and knowledgeable about allergies as well as vegan food. The vegan 'duck' and pancakes was delicious as was the sweet and sour, tofu with ginger and pineapple. The food is lighter than normal Chinese food and is not full of sugar or msg, it has a fresh just made taste. I would highly recommend a visit. Thank... More

So dated. The food is very bland. Best thing about the place is the turntable thing. The staff however are lovely. That's the best part.
