Description: The Garden Hotel & Cantonese Restaurant has been welcoming discerning diners to Bangor for 32 years and remains a heavenly haven of culinary excellence.Proprietor Andrew Lui established the Garden Hotel & Cantonese Restaurant in 1981 following a chemical engineering degree and career, and is now a leading authority on Cantonese cooking. Working together with wife and Head Chef, Alice Lui who trained in Hong Kong and China. The restaurant is open seven days a week with a comprehensive a la carte menu from 2.00pm to 09.30pm. “There are three basic principles that I believe are essential for success,” Andrew adds.“The first is good cuisine; the second is good service and thirdly, a good environment. All our dishes are freshly prepared and cooked with the finest ingredients. The Garden Cantonese Restaurant goes a little step further by offering dishes to suit vegans, lacto vegetarians, ovo-lacto vegetarians and customers with nut, dairy or gluten allergies. We also understand the importance of healthy eating and use only the healthiest of oils and lean produce in our cuisine.

I was really looking forward to visiting this restaurant following the mainly positive reviews...however I was sorely disappointed. We ordered the sharing platter at £13.50 which consisted of four chicken wings[tiny]~two small pancake rolls two prawn crackers with seaweed etc....this was a miniscule portion for the price. The mains were ok but no better than a supermarket or decent takeaway.... More

Food was delicious, staff were really friendly and great value for money. Chinese food can sometimes be greasy, sugary or too garlicky, but not here! If we lived near here we would be regulars.

My second time eating here today, and yet again the food and service were faultless. Really friendly staff that make you feel welcomed, and nothing is too much trouble. Will definitely be coming back soon

I came to this restaurant after a day out in Bangor after reading some of the good reviews on tripadvisor. I was not disappointed. We arrived at an unsociable 3pm with the lights off, we thought it was closed. However, the lady at the front desk was extremely accommodating and opened the restaurant up just for me and my girlfriend.... More

The Garden has an extensive a la carte menu so the food takes some time to choose. The staff are very friendly and patient and are happy for you to share your food to spread the joy. The Sizzling Szechuan Spicy Beef certainly sizzles and is spicy - lovely. An excellent meal.

A really enjoyable meal here on a Saturday night. We hadn't booked but there was plenty of room for the two of us. Drink prices were reasonable and the food was delicious. We had prawn toast, chicken and sweetcorn soup and spicy chicken wings to start all of which were non-greasy and fresh. For mains we had beef satay and... More

Been eating there for years now and it's still the same quality although sometime some dishes are not hot enough, but apart from that, still good and good waiting staff some restaurant could learn from them.

Having been a coeliac for 30 years this is only the 2nd Chinese meal I have had in that time and by far the best. Alex was well informed as to what was gluten free and what wasn't. My 1st choice main course wasn't but it was easy to choose a 2nd which was. Don't be put off by the... More
