The Garden Hotel & Cantonese Restaurant has been welcoming discerning diners to Bangor for 32 years and remains a heavenly haven of culinary excellence.Proprietor Andrew Lui established the Garden Hotel & Cantonese Restaurant in 1981 following a chemical engineering degree and career, and is now a leading authority on Cantonese cooking. Working together with wife and Head Chef, Alice Lui who trained in Hong Kong and China. The restaurant is open seven days a week with a comprehensive a la carte menu from 2.00pm to 09.30pm. “There are three basic principles that I believe are essential for success,” Andrew adds.“The first is good cuisine; the second is good service and thirdly, a good environment. All our dishes are freshly prepared and cooked with the finest ingredients. Brilliant weekend break

Just got back from a weekend away at the garden Cantonese. The location is great and the staff are lovely and most friendly. We reserved 3 rooms and every room was great and spotless.

Visited on a Saturday with the family. Staff efficient and very accommodating. Great choice on the menu, plenty to choose from - Chinese or Cantonese. The food itself was beautiful. Looking forward to going back....

I read the reviews prior to my visit and a lot of positive comments about the quality of their food even though pricey. We bought a few dishes but we thought it was ok but with the price you pay, there wasn't much in each dish. We went to a different takeaway nearby in the following days.

We choose this restaurant out of the many listed in Bangor and boy what a choice it proved to be. Our family of four was not disapointed with the food. All dishes were freshly cooked with flavours to die for. Service was polite and friendly, it is a real shame we live over 300 miles away as we would definitely... More

The food and service in this restaurant is first class. My wife has coeliac disease and cannot eat any gluten based meals, but the staff are really knowledgeable about this and recommend accordingly. It makes such a difference to have confidence in what you are ordering and eating. We regularly travel 90 minutes to eat here due to the warm... More

Visited this restaurant tonight (27/6/15). We used to go here when it first opened, but had not been for a while, probably because so many other eating places have opened up. I must say that this was an absolutely first class experience. The food was excellent, I had the Peking hot and sour soup to start, my wife had the... More

This family run Chinese Restaurant has an extensive menu and the quality of the food and service is excellent. The Combination Appetisers and Crispy Duck are particularly nice. The Yung Chow Fried Rice is light and full of meat and prawns, and a great meal in itself. The decor in the restaurant is also very conducive to enjoying a chinese... More

We just stumbled on it for lunch by chance this afternoon. All i can say is i cannot wait to return and bring my 3 boys. The food was lovely, the service faultless and spotless. Lovely family and very friendly. Gareth & Alison Llandudno

Expensive, small portions and a bit of seasoning in the food would be helpful, but the food was very nice. The 10% student discount is heavily advertised, but only in the small print does it indicate it is not available on a friday. We were seated and told in error that the discount was applicable to our friday meal. On... More

This review is false. There is no cctv in our restaurant. We recall this customer on the Friday evening, who caused a lot of disruption towards other guests in the restaurant and demonstrated bullying behaviour towards members of staff which is highly inappropriate. We do not accept this in our establishment. Thank you. Manager More

This restaurant was recommended to me by my hotel and is situated on Bangor High Street close to the Rail Station. It is also a Hotel but this review is only for the restaurant. You can book – and at busy times it is advisable – but this is a larger than average Chinese. I had just a short wait... More
