Description: The Garden Hotel & Cantonese Restaurant has been welcoming discerning diners to Bangor for 32 years and remains a heavenly haven of culinary excellence.Proprietor Andrew Lui established the Garden Hotel & Cantonese Restaurant in 1981 following a chemical engineering degree and career, and is now a leading authority on Cantonese cooking. Working together with wife and Head Chef, Alice Lui who trained in Hong Kong and China. The restaurant is open seven days a week with a comprehensive a la carte menu from 2.00pm to 09.30pm. “There are three basic principles that I believe are essential for success,” Andrew adds.“The first is good cuisine; the second is good service and thirdly, a good environment. All our dishes are freshly prepared and cooked with the finest ingredients. The Garden Cantonese Restaurant goes a little step further by offering dishes to suit vegans, lacto vegetarians, ovo-lacto vegetarians and customers with nut, dairy or gluten allergies. We also understand the importance of healthy eating and use only the healthiest of oils and lean produce in our cuisine.

Having lived in Hong Kong during the 80's, I have since had a passion for Cantonese and Southeast Asian cuisine. From the moment I walked in I knew I was in good hands. I was shown to my table by a young woman who was as knowledgeable as the was passionate about the food. I wisely decided to go with... More

Stayed here on business a few times in the summer. The staff are extremely friendly and the rooms are comfortable. The Chinese food is really good but a tad expensive. The breakfast is really good. Large selection. The only thing letting this place down is the wifi which is intermittent at best. I've stayed in several rooms and get the... More

What an inspirational man, he has gone through the worst thing and come out so strong and so motivated. I am so glad he has found someone to share his life with and I hope they’ve a lifetime of happiness together.

I came here with my wife as I've always been a big fan of Asian food. I absolutely loved this place. The food was so tasty and fragrant with plenty of fresh ingredients. The menu was pretty big so I asked the waitress for her recommendations, I highly recommend you do this because she suggested a crispy king prawn dish... More

Called here on the way home from bangor late one saturday afternoon as a family , tried it because of trip advisor . Very warm welcome , interior very traditional if a bit dated , not your trendy sort of place . Ordered a mixed starter for me and the wife and some soup for the kids , portions were... More

Brilliant! I come here quite often and I am never disappointed! As a vegetarian it can be difficult finding something different but here they do a sweet and sour tofu dish which is delicious and I always get every visit because it is so yummy! Last time I visited was for my birthday with my partner, sister, and her partner.... More

I will keep this short and very sweet! Do not listen to the negative reviewers here! I have lived on Anglesey all my life (28yrs) - and have been to Uni in Bangor back in the day(!) My other half is originally from Bangor too and he has also visited this restaurant a long, long time. First of all it... More

I went here based on a recommendation - never again! Restaurant was closed when we arrived at 4.50pm. I enquired when the restaurant would be open & they immediately opened up to provide us with takeaway food. The fact that they could immediately open up the kitchen should have been the first warning sign. Anyway, the lady who served us... More

I was really looking forward to visiting this restaurant following the mainly positive reviews...however I was sorely disappointed. We ordered the sharing platter at £13.50 which consisted of four chicken wings[tiny]~two small pancake rolls two prawn crackers with seaweed etc....this was a miniscule portion for the price. The mains were ok but no better than a supermarket or decent takeaway.... More
