Probably the best chippy in Aberystwyth

How times change.....gone are the days of roundabout John Torry fish and chips.....now being run by very young staff....the express is just down the road opposite the Station......CRISP chips...a whale of a fish freshly made and at a price easy on the pocket......Now crowned..best chippy in Aber

Conveniently situated opposite the railway station, we were very hungry after a long train ride. Good size portions of chips and chicken. Flaky, moist cod freshly cooked. We were eating in and were surprised to find our meals served in cardboard take away cartons. A tip, guys. Fish and chips are better on a plate when sitting down.

Ok ... here's the review from my 4 children aged between 3 and 12. The consensus, after a short discussion was that the chips were ' like cold slugs' . In addition the chicken nuggets were overcooked. We tried the slimy chips ourselves and promptly drove to the nearest bin and deposited the remaining items there. Do not go here.

We had a family day reliving our childhood with a trip to Aber. After a brief walk around we spotted this cafe which offered traditional Fish and Chips. The cafe was very basic with a row of tables & chairs. There was a lot of confusion over what was available. Items which we were told were unavailable were later available... More

The portion size I was presented with was an insult. Even for £6. So small was the portion that even the waitress appeared embarrassed when she served it at my table. The small portion of veg was very nice but the 'turkey'in this dinner consisted of something which resembled an extra-large Bernard Mathews wafer thin turkey slice. Honestly I am... More

The cod was marvellous but the chips were not very nice. They were edible but very soggy and school-canteeny. Plus there was a wretched toothless woman in the queue who accused me of pushing in (though I don't hold them responsible for that). Solutions for improvement: (a) google how to deep-fry chips; and (b) erect a sign suggesting that ugly... More

As a veteran student of aber i used to visit the express just after it opened, always being one of the busiest chippies in town, now it seems to have gone a little quiet, but the food was good. My wife had the fish and chips, fish was cooked fresh, the batter was light and crispy, one of the first... More

I used to go to the Dolphin as a student. And as the weather was not favourable for outside fish and chips, I took my family here. Regrettable. Not the greatest fish and chips. Lacklustre service. Filthy ceiling fans. And no toilets in the building for the public. At least it was fairly cheap....
