we have been visiting gannets for 30 years now and sadly less often now as we live in Canada- but as usual it was a wonderful experience- very welcoming with excellent food and good service - the restaurant was full on Saturday evening so be sure to book - thank you for being consistently a lovely evening out

Most of the menu here is a throw back to the 70s for example you can get baked rice pudding for pud. Having said that I had skate wing for my main which I have never had before and the owner offered to cook me something else if I didnt like it. But I did. it was pure unspoiled fish... More

A small family run restaurant, cosy, friendly, very good value for money, excellent choices on the menu and the food was traditional and good. Four of us went on a Saturday night, we had reserved a table which was kept for us even though we were late. The staff were friendly and we all enjoyed our meals. Will go again... More

Where do I start? A warm welcome, Welsh-speaking staff, excellent value for money and the perfect to place to take friends or family. There's a reason why this place has been open for 33 years. PS. We love you Dilys!

The owners and restaurant itself are nice enough but unfortunately the menu and food leave a lot to be desired. The "crab salad" arrived and was actually a mixture of crab, mackerel and anchovies (not mentioned in the menu and my partner detests anchovies) The steaks we ordered were poor and in my case inedible due to the sheer amount... Gannets is great! "Throwback to the Seventies" from a previous review is a very good summary, and this is the Seventies as you'd want it to be remembered. Personal and caring service with food like good home cooking. Above all, remarkable prices: 7 lunches, main course only, £35. This is 2/3 of what I would have expected, or less. Gannets... More

The menu is pure 1970s: minestrone soup, prawn cocktail, sirloin steak, Boeuf Bourguignon, mushroom stroganoff. But it's quality food, well cooked and an absolute bargain.

This easily has to be one of the best, if not the best restaurants in Aberystwyth. We stumbled across it 10 years ago and have been going back ever since. The food is really first class, the service excellent and restaurant was alive with locals and visitors Aberystwyth. Either way we keep coming back and I hope long may we... More

As a family we have been eating at this restaurant most weeks for over 25 years. We have always appreciated the warmth of the welcome and the consistently high quality of the meals. The leg of Welsh lamb is particularly delicious and is the best lamb dish I have tasted on 4 continents. The generous coffee liquors are also world... More

We have been going to Aber for over 20 years now and are ashamed to say that we had never come across this lovely restaurant. This weekend we were looking for a new restaurant to try and came across Gannets Bistro on tripadvisor and impressed by the good reviews decided to give it a try. The restaurant was buzzing with...
