The menu is pure 1970s: minestrone soup, prawn cocktail, sirloin steak, Boeuf Bourguignon, mushroom stroganoff. But it's quality food, well cooked and an absolute bargain.

This easily has to be one of the best, if not the best restaurants in Aberystwyth. We stumbled across it 10 years ago and have been going back ever since. The food is really first class, the service excellent and restaurant was alive with locals and visitors Aberystwyth. Either way we keep coming back and I hope long may we... More

As a family we have been eating at this restaurant most weeks for over 25 years. We have always appreciated the warmth of the welcome and the consistently high quality of the meals. The leg of Welsh lamb is particularly delicious and is the best lamb dish I have tasted on 4 continents. The generous coffee liquors are also world... More

We have been going to Aber for over 20 years now and are ashamed to say that we had never come across this lovely restaurant. This weekend we were looking for a new restaurant to try and came across Gannets Bistro on tripadvisor and impressed by the good reviews decided to give it a try. The restaurant was buzzing with... This restaurant is situated off the beaten track but despite this was full on Saturday night. Inside the restaurant is like stepping back in time in both decor and menu, not always a bad thing. I had the crab pate special to start which was light and tasty, ajthough my son said his soup tasted exactly like Heinz tinned and... More

Very friendly staff, excellent service, reasonably priced wine and fantastic food. The duck a l'orange was amazing - the best I have tasted and the overall cost for 2 starters, 2 main meals and a bottle of wine at £47 was excellent value. Thoroughly recommended

Always a lovely welcome at this little bistro, fantastic service and owners and staff always friendly and happy to help. Don't miss out on the most delicious and tasty peppered steaks you are likely to have in Aber. Also everything on the menu is reasonably well priced.

First time at Gannets, we just happened upon it and grateful we did. Great menu options and I was very happy with my choice, but glad I have sharing friends and we all tried eachothers meal :) Friendly staff too :)

As a former waitress of several years at this bistro ( 10 years ago now- yikes!!!) I put my hands up to being biased but can hand on heart say that the food and welcome you will receive is second to none. Honest homely food, plenty of wine and a warm atmosphere are what I remember most. I've been back... More
