excellent food & service

We have eaten here on several occasions for family celebrations , the food & service is excellent. Great location overlooking the bay. It is quite noisy though & feels a bit cramped with the front door opening straight into the restaurant which is not great if you are closest to it in winter!

My wife, two grand daughters plus one boyfriend were in need of lunchtime sustenance after a very pleasant morning exploring Aberystwyth and its castle. Step forward Gwesty Cymru. We were warmly and enthusiastically greeted and tables were reorganised to accommodate our party of five. That service was reflected throughout the meal. Well done. My wife are Coconut curry with chicken... More

Dined here last Saturday night - 2 of us, whilst staying in Aber for the weekend. The small dining room was full; two large tables clearly of locals which is always a good sign. Very friendly bi-lingual service and the food was as good as anything we have had in high end (and far more expensive) restaurants in London. Soup... More

After an awful choice of b n b on our weekend away, this restaurant defiantly made up for it. We both chose steak and it was cooked to perfection. The waitress was lovely and all very friendly. Throughly enjoyed my meal at gwesty! Thank you xx

Gwesty used to be one of, if not the place to eat quality food in Aberystwyth. Sadly it seems all good things really do come to an end. Starter: Tough, curled up at the edges Red Mullet, closer in similarity to vehicular rubber tyres than succulent fishy flesh. Main: Lamb rump, served a shade of grey rather than the requested... This was a really positive experience! The last time I was in Aberystwyth the restaurant was fully booked when I turned up. This time was a Monday evening, outside of the tourist season, fortunate that we had booked because there was a single table available. The reason the restaurant is full becomes obvious when you try the food. Absolutely lovely,... More

It's a while since we ate last at this great little restaurant since we'd been lacking an occasion to celebrate. Last evening we made up for it! Wow, this place just continues to get better and better. In retrospect, maybe we should have skipped starters (though that would have meant missing some beautifully cooked red mullet and a perfect scotch... More

This was a simply stunning dinner. All four of us loved our meals - we were perhaps greedy adding dessert! Service was excellent, ambience delightful and the scotch egg met my partner's exacting standards! Congratulations!

Had not mad a reservation, but the staff managed to find a table for five persons. Three vegetarians had no problem with the menu and not the other two either!
