This is just the place for a celebration, or if you just feel like pushing the boat out. It is an up-market eating experience, with the emphasis on the best of local produce and a true Welsh atmosphere, where anyone can feel at home. The ambience is chic and modern, with steel and slate themes, which can make it a... More

If you want a nice meal to celebrate something special it's the place to be. Also you can eat out on the terrace and capture the sea view. I have eaten there more than once and always enjoyed good food. Worth the extra money and good value at lunchtime as it's a lot cheaper

Broke off our round trip on the Vale of Rheidol Railway to have lunch in Aberystwyth. Wondered where to go, and relying on TripAdvisor reviews, plumped for Gwesty Cymru. So glad we did. Sunny day, we sat outside just over from the promenade, drinking in the view of the sea and cliffs. Drinks were lovely and the food was perfect.... More

I had not heard of this restaurant until my friend recommended. It was excellent in every way. Lovely setting, beautiful food, welsh produce and so unexpected from my Aberystwyth stay. I wish we had something like this in Cardiff.

Five us ate here on 13/8 everything was excellent. Small cosy restaurant. Staff very friendly and accommodating. I can't eat Spinach and the chicken dish I wanted was stuffed with cheese and spinach, so I asked if I could have it without the stuffing as I can't eat Spinach! When it came it was stuffed with cheese but no Spinach,... More

We had a lovely meal for four here last night, the menu was focused on local seasonal ingedients and well presented. Diolch i'r merched gweini am noswaith hyfryd.

We were very lucky as the weather was perfect and we were able to sit outside and watch a beautiful sunset. The food was delicious. Well cooked with fresh ingredients and good portion sizes. I had chicken breast, wrapped in pancetta and stuffed with spinach and Welsh cheese with a Marsala sauce and it was moist as well as very... More

After much researching and consulting TA reviews, we picked the Gwestry Cymru restaurant and called in late afternoon to book a table. Many of the eating establishments in Aberystwyth looked quite scruffy and seemed to cater mainly for the student population and day trippers but this place stood out as a comfortable restaurant with a great location on the seafront... Not quite sure how a restaurant that opens at 6pm can have run out of both specials by 6.45pm but, disappointing though this was, the other options proved delicious and plentiful on the plate, especially the chicken breast, wrapped in pancetta and stuffed with spinach and Welsh cheese with a Marsala sauce. The staff were friendly and helpful to one... More
