Super Sunday - Evening Dinner

My partner and I haven't been to Gwesty Cymru for about 6 months as we were becoming a bit tired of the menu. However, last night's dinner was really great with a select but interesting range of ingredients e.g. Welsh mussels; red mullet; fig ice cream. Relaxed but serious dining at its best.

We have eaten here on two occasions when visiting Aberystwyth to see our eldest son who was at the university. (Since graduated). On both occasions the food has been delicious and the service attentive but not overbearing. It was easier to get a table in April than in July due to the popularity of the restaurant during graduation week. We... More

The service was cheery, humorous and second to none. And the sunset we were treated to before dinner was beautiful. So the starters, the party choice was the king prawn, with kale, chilli jam and lobster bisque - rendering our party silent but for a lot of appreciative 'oohs' and 'aahs' - truly divine. A mix of steak and fish dishes... More

We set out for fish and chips ...from Hereford, a nice little evening jaunt for us, as we love Aberystwyth. We found our usual chip shop sadly closed. It was chip shop dining time, only 6pm so we thought is a little early for a table in a restaurant. We were wrong when we enquired at Gwesty Cymru and was... More

I have eaten here on a number of occasions and never disappointed. Gwesty Cymru have a varied menu - so lots to choose from and everything I have tried has been delish!! I would recommend booking as it can be very busy... it is a very small restaurant but wonderful, with friendly and attentive staff.

My parents stayed here for 1 night and opted for the package that included dinner. The room was a good size, clean and well maintained. The food was superb and so was the service, a lovely little hotel on the sea.

Cosy restaurant looking out on the prom; small but perfectly formed. Attentive service and a wide and appealing menu, was very difficult to choose but had the soup and the stuffed pepper with Mediterranean veg and it was lovely! Had a great afternoon!

Thank you for your recent review. We are slightly concerned that you say that you paid £30 + for a Steak with nothing else. Our 10oz Sirloin steak on the daily menu is £18.95 (+£2 for a sauce if wanted) Occasionally we will have 8oz Fillet steaks on our specials menu for around £24.00. If you had nothing else you... This is a small restaurant that serves high class food at deserving prices. The menu is small but the ingredients are always fresh and perfectly cooked. We must have eaten here close to twenty times and have NEVER has a bad course, let alone a bad meal. The restaurant is small (maybe 8 tables max) which means it's always full... More
