This restaurant has improved dramatically since its revamp. The food is better as is the service. It is extremely convenient when at the theatre for a show and you can have dessert and drinks during the interval away from the hordes at the bar. Good food to kick off a lovely evening out.

We have eaten dinner here twice in the last few months, but never again, unless the chef moves on. The fish, Turbot on one occasion and Pollock on the other, were both small, thin tail ends, stale and tasteless, with equally poor vegetables. Gnocchi was like rubber, and the sauce without flavour. I last ate frozen melon balls in the... More

We were four for lunch prior to a matinee performance and were shown to a table in a fairly off hand manner. The food came quickly at first. My wife's smoked salmon starter was accompanied by lemon curd! and my so called caramelised figs were nothing of the sort. Mains were not much better,my potato croquette was overcooked, the fish... This is the third time we have eaten under the new management - pre-theatre dinner. We were critical last time that the menu only changed seasonally, but this time there was a special main course available. As a result we will be eating there much more frequently. We were also critical that no rolls were provided. However there is a... More

We travelled a fair distance to see a play so decided to eat in the Bistro to avoid wandering round the town. On being seated we were asked what time the performance and were told we could keep the table for interval refreshments which I though were nice touches. Décor wise the bistro was very pleasant and nicely presented. The... More

We had never eaten at this restaurant before but being out of town visitors we thought it would be the more practical solution to have a pre theatre meal. I was somewhat apprenhensive having read some of the reviews but I need not have worried. Apart from the fact that they had run out of the lamb on the specials... More

We decided to opt for the Scene Bistro as we were seeing a show there and we were not disappointed. Although the choice on the menu is no huge we were extremely pleased with our meals, we ordered a bottle of wine and when we had finished our meal we were asked would we like a desert etc. They offered... On booking I was advised there would be plenty of time to eat before the performance but at no point did anyone ask which performance we were seeing. We arrived about 6 minutes late due to traffic. There was no haste to seat us or take our order. It didn't seen fully booked and there appeared to be plenty of... More

Very pleasant accompaniment to a trip to the theatre - small (thats a good thing) well-cooked menu. Staff were extremely helpful. Table is yours for the evening so you can order a dessert or drink to be taken during the interval and know you have somewhere to sit. Will definitely visit again.

A perfect pre theatre dinner beautifully served mindful of the time of the start of the concert. I had the slow cooked shin of beef which was superb my wife had the pollock which she said was the best she had ever had. The desserts were mind blowing, I had the Malvern pudding which was wonderful. All in all a... More
