Description: Often compared to a country pub in the middle of the City, The Pheasant is one of Salisbury's oldest pubs, dated back to 1642, nestling in a quiet square a moment's walk from The Market Square ( follow Endless Street opposite The Guildhall and turn right into Salt Lane where you can see the pub ). With two log fires and a wealth of character features, The Pheasant offers a choice of formal dining or less formal bar tables and fireside sofas for a pint of one of the 4 draught ales or a special occasion dinner. Our menu includes traditional pub classics ( steak & ale pudding, beer battered fish & chips, welsh rarebit etc ) and 28 day hung local steaks and grills, with a daily 'specials' selection ranging from cajun blackened salmon fillet, slow cooked lamb shank, confit duck and monkfish with spiced prawns, for example. Always clean, warm and welcoming, The Pheasant is open daily 11 am - 11 pm and offers a host of events to enjoy as well, including weekly live music, a popular quiz night and regular beer and cider festivals - give us a call to check what's on now !

Dropped in on a Friday night, pretty quiet compared to some of the noisier places in town - you can converse & eat without too much problem. Starters were excellent. mushrooms on cream sauce along with chicken & chorizo pate. Main courses suffered with soggy chips even though they were cooked. Burger was fine, Scampi looked too uniform to be... More

It is the best adress in Salisbury to get delicious food. We went there two evenings. On the second evening, it was our 10th weddingday anniversary, the so called beer festival started with pretty good live music.Great burgers, super salats and great steaks and super desserts in a really familiar atmosphere. If we stay in Salisbury or surrounding we will... More

When it comes to food and eating out everyone has their own interpretations about what is good service or food and of course some will I believe never be pleased! We booked for a Sunday afternoon late lunch, although the restaurant was quiet it was more likely the time of day. The Pheasant is a really nice old building and... More

Food was so good we went 2 out of our 3 nights in Salisbury! The local beer and cider were delicious and the waiter (Lou I think) was fantastic!! Very approachable, friendly and professional! The pub itself is beautiful with that old English charm vibe! Defiantly worth a visit!!!!!!!

Went with friends for a roast beef dinner...thought the guy behind the bar was well friendly and polite ...the roast itself was at £10.95 very poor value for reasons I'm going to state.....1. Not as hot as it could be...2. Very small portion including a pathetic tiny Yorkshire pudding....3.over cooked beef giving the impression it had been reheated in a... More

Thankyou for your feedback, and fortunately we had the opportunity to speak to mitigate a few 'one off reasons' which we've now mitigated to bring our Sunday lunch back to our usual high standard, which you appreciated - and I know also know I'll never ask a Chef to work the day after his birthday party again ! Sunday lunch... More

Went here for a meal for our anniversary and were so impressed, must admit we can both be quite fussy but the food was amazing! Everything we had was so good, can't wait to go back. The place is such a lovely looking pub and the staff are brilliant. The bar man made our night, so friendly and chatty and... More

Poor beer. No very poor beer. Ordered one and a half pints of the guest ale London Pride both where soar. You could smell it was bad before drinking it. The barman gave no apology just ask if I wanted to change what we where drinking! The replacement beer was cloudy and one of the poorest pints of Ringwood I... More

Hi Alan I'm sorry to hear you didn't enjoy your London Pride with us - it does indeed sound as if it may have come to the end of the barrel as our cellar log also shows. Unlike lager, cask ales are a 'live' product so do have a shelf life and we always dispense within the recommended 3 days... More

We went for a meal on a Friday evening, having view the Pheasant offerings online; we were not sure what to expect, but we were very pleasantly surprised. The ambiance of the Pheasant was pleasant, with restaurant separated from the pub through cleaver use of furnishings and the old building structural design. The tables were not too close together and... More

I wanted homely food, something to warm me up, I ordered the chicken and leek pie, and It was the nicest pie i'd had in a long time, it was all home made, right down to the pastry! So glad I chose that, I really would recommend eating here!! Excellent service too!! :)
