Description: Often compared to a country pub in the middle of the City, The Pheasant is one of Salisbury's oldest pubs, dated back to 1642, nestling in a quiet square a moment's walk from The Market Square ( follow Endless Street opposite The Guildhall and turn right into Salt Lane where you can see the pub ). With two log fires and a wealth of character features, The Pheasant offers a choice of formal dining or less formal bar tables and fireside sofas for a pint of one of the 4 draught ales or a special occasion dinner. Our menu includes traditional pub classics ( steak & ale pudding, beer battered fish & chips, welsh rarebit etc ) and 28 day hung local steaks and grills, with a daily 'specials' selection ranging from cajun blackened salmon fillet, slow cooked lamb shank, confit duck and monkfish with spiced prawns, for example. Always clean, warm and welcoming, The Pheasant is open daily 11 am - 11 pm and offers a host of events to enjoy as well, including weekly live music, a popular quiz night and regular beer and cider festivals - give us a call to check what's on now !

Last week, my partner & I met up with some friends for a couple of drinks and a catch up. We decided to head here because we'd been a couple of times before and enjoyed the atmosphere. We ended up eating here too, and the food was absolutely delicious! We ordered the meatballs & pasta, homemade chicken Kievs (from the... More

Lovely Lunch in an historic pub, the food was excellent, friendly helpful staff. An open fire is always good on a bitterly cold day too.

Unbelievably horrible experience, walked up to the bar to find a barmaid who was clearly flustered and frustrated with her day, asked for a latte, back to that in a moment..... As the was preparing my latte I inquired perfectly reasonably about the soup of the day, to my utter disgust she swung her arm round and pointed at a... More

Thankyou so much for your review and I'm so sorry to hear about the experience you described - it's certainly not our usual standard of service and certainly not how we expect our staff to treat customers - and not what our customers usually receive, either ! I've sent you a private message as well, so please do get in... More

Was looking forward to a Christmas meal with work colleagues, but came out feeling very disappointed and in fact hungry! The setting and the style of this place is lovely, and the staff were friendly when we arrived and asked us if we wanted to pause between courses to distribute presents. we had all ordered off a set menu, and... I attended a Christmas Party here with 12 friends. We had preordered the food from the Christmas menu but sadly the food that came was a little lacklustre and there wasn't much of it. My partner had the turkey which arrived with a few roast potatoes, two/three brussels and some green beans. My meal was puff pastry with a spinach... More

Had our Christmas party and food consisted of miniature amounts of reheated food and the staff were more interested then quantity of patrons instead of the quality of service. Too many people not enough staff and when we mentioned about be standard of service we were told they weren't interested. My compliments do not go to the chef not to... More

I visited early evening for a quick drink and the pub was inviting, pet friendly I noticed with a lovely log burner. Reception could have been warmer. I find good evening always help before 'what can I get you'

Thanks for your review and I'm glad that you enjoyed your visit. We're usually known as one of the friendliest pubs in the City so it's disappointing if you feel the welcome may have fallen a little short of your expectations. It's nice to see the recognition that bar staff are real people, though. Do come and see us again... More

Went to the Pheasant for a Christmas meal last night with a large group of around 20. Staff were fantastic, providing friendly, excellent service. The food (a three course set Christmas menu) was absolutely beautiful - no one in the group had a bad word to say which doesn't happen often!! Would definitely go again and recommend!

The staff were very busy but managed to get my meal to me within about 20 minutes. Not cheap but very tasty. Quite often meet friends there but first time I'd actually eaten.

I felt compelled to write a review for this place given the wonderful experience I had last week. We booked a table for 12 at short notice for my Dad's 60th Birthday. The manager/owner (not sure) couldn't have been more helpful or accommodating, a refreshing attitude in comparison to our original venue who messed us about so much.We requested to... More
