Description: Often compared to a country pub in the middle of the City, The Pheasant is one of Salisbury's oldest pubs, dated back to 1642, nestling in a quiet square a moment's walk from The Market Square ( follow Endless Street opposite The Guildhall and turn right into Salt Lane where you can see the pub ). With two log fires and a wealth of character features, The Pheasant offers a choice of formal dining or less formal bar tables and fireside sofas for a pint of one of the 4 draught ales or a special occasion dinner. Our menu includes traditional pub classics ( steak & ale pudding, beer battered fish & chips, welsh rarebit etc ) and 28 day hung local steaks and grills, with a daily 'specials' selection ranging from cajun blackened salmon fillet, slow cooked lamb shank, confit duck and monkfish with spiced prawns, for example. Always clean, warm and welcoming, The Pheasant is open daily 11 am - 11 pm and offers a host of events to enjoy as well, including weekly live music, a popular quiz night and regular beer and cider festivals - give us a call to check what's on now !

Went here for a meal for our anniversary and were so impressed, must admit we can both be quite fussy but the food was amazing! Everything we had was so good, can't wait to go back. The place is such a lovely looking pub and the staff are brilliant. The bar man made our night, so friendly and chatty and... More

Poor beer. No very poor beer. Ordered one and a half pints of the guest ale London Pride both where soar. You could smell it was bad before drinking it. The barman gave no apology just ask if I wanted to change what we where drinking! The replacement beer was cloudy and one of the poorest pints of Ringwood I... More

Hi Alan I'm sorry to hear you didn't enjoy your London Pride with us - it does indeed sound as if it may have come to the end of the barrel as our cellar log also shows. Unlike lager, cask ales are a 'live' product so do have a shelf life and we always dispense within the recommended 3 days... More

We went for a meal on a Friday evening, having view the Pheasant offerings online; we were not sure what to expect, but we were very pleasantly surprised. The ambiance of the Pheasant was pleasant, with restaurant separated from the pub through cleaver use of furnishings and the old building structural design. The tables were not too close together and... More

I wanted homely food, something to warm me up, I ordered the chicken and leek pie, and It was the nicest pie i'd had in a long time, it was all home made, right down to the pastry! So glad I chose that, I really would recommend eating here!! Excellent service too!! :)

One of the reason I have gone to this restaurant , café in the past is that it is not a chain, potentially really nice venue..lovely old building with loads of 'English ' charm. BUT today...Arrived, no one, aware my friend and I were there, picked a table ourselves.very few customers,No interest from person who served us. We weren't there... More

I've hesitated for a while about replying to this review as I was uncomfortable about being compared to Basil Fawlty, and that you hadn't enjoyed your visit, although I can recall your visit quite vividly. It's probably worth mentioning that we are a 'pub' though and not a café / restaurant, although I'm gratified that the quality of our food... More

Stopped at the Pheasant Inn looking for a place to eat for the evening. Decent appearing menu including a prix fixe but in the end, went for the steak dinner package (I believe it was two for one, or two for 20...can't remember). The service was good and the steak dinner was extremely enjoyable; the quality was comparable to a... More

We ate here on Friday evening and were impressed by the food, high standard of service, and lovely atmosphere. It has a country feel but all the benefits of a town location. We were visiting Salisbury for a family gathering, and would recommend anyone looking for top notch food in a relaxed setting.

I've done the rounds... and this is one of my favourite pubs to visit. With a clever layout catering for diners and drinkers there's also a cosy settee area for those times I'm just catching up for a coffee with friends. The menu has a wide choice of favourites including sharing platters and the portions are always generous. Great beer,... More

Just had Sunday Lunch at this lovely atmospheric pub. Excellent food courtesy of Woitek the Chef, his parsnip crisps were indicative of the care he takes with all the food served, including getting the balance of slightly sharp rhubarb & sweet crumble topping just right ! Matt & his team really show that the customer matters.

It was Mothers Day so our children took us both out for dinner to the Pheasant. It was a really enjoyable experience: good food at sensible prices in a delightful old building. Two dishes stood out: the chicken liver pate was well above average, perfectly smooth, well seasoned and something I’d like to have again. My wife had salmon on... More

Thankyou so much for your kind review - very welcome ! I'm glad that you enjoyed your meal with us, and the two dishes you highlighted are also my favourites ! I take on board your comment about the wines - we're very much a 'pub with great food' rather than a pub trying to be a restaurant, so a... More
