Often compared to a country pub in the middle of the City, The Pheasant is one of Salisbury's oldest pubs, dated back to 1642, nestling in a quiet square a moment's walk from The Market Square ( follow Endless Street opposite The Guildhall and turn right into Salt Lane where you can see the pub ). With two log fires and a wealth of character features, The Pheasant offers a choice of formal dining or less formal bar tables and fireside sofas for a pint of one of the 4 draught ales or a special occasion dinner. Our menu includes traditional pub classics ( steak & ale pudding, beer battered fish & chips, welsh rarebit etc ) and 28 day hung local steaks and grills, with a daily 'specials' selection ranging from cajun blackened salmon fillet, slow cooked lamb shank, confit duck and monkfish with spiced prawns, for example. Always clean, warm and welcoming, The Pheasant is open daily 11 am - 11 pm and offers a host of events to enjoy as well, including weekly live music, a popular quiz night and regular beer and cider festivals - give us a call to check what's on now !

Wonderfully warm and welcoming

We held our 2014 office Christmas Party at The Pheasant and have to say it was a great success. The most notable contributors to the fantastic evening was the staff who all went out of their way to make the event enjoyable. The General Manager always around to ensure we had everything we wanted to... read more

The service was really good. Roast tasted lovely but only warm.I had roast beef which tasted good but very disapointed to be told once my dinner arrived that they dod not have horseradish. This would be nice to know before ordering. No complimentry drink?

I was taken to the Pheasant by my 9 year old son for a roast lunch on Mothers Day! We both had a three course meal taken off the special Mothers Day menu. As my son doesn't have a big appetite the staff were happy to offer the same food at reduced portions and price for my son. We enjoyed... More

Had a surprise birthday party here Saturday evening. Had absolutely no idea and arrived with friends to have a few drinks. Owner asked us to look at function room and behind closed doors were my friends to celebrate. Played the part well. Great buffet and gorgeous surroundings ensured we all had a great night. This pub is full of charm... More

We stopped at The Pheasant for lunch yesterday for a change as we hadn't been there for years and suffice to say it will be many more years or never again, it was just awful. The waitress was very pleasant and promptly took our order for food and drinks. We were on a bit of a time scale so thought... More

Thankyou for takjing the time to leave a review of your visit to The Pheasant - I'm aware you also left a note at the pub on Saturday afternoon with your email address, although unfortunately it bounced back to me - I wish I'd had another way of contacting you. Unfortunately a response on tripadevisor can take several days to... More

I rarely give negative reviews of restaurants but in the case of The Pheasant I must make an exception. I visited with friends - we eat out regularly - and almost from the start the evening was a trainwreck. I ordered from the specials board and my first choice of "Slow roasted venison" arrived cold. Not tepid but cold, as... More

Thankyou for taking the time to leave a review and I'm equally disappointed that you were disatisfied with your visit - it certainly isn't the experience we aim to, or usually provide. I've brought up the points you raised with the team here and there's no excuse, I'm afraid - it seems there was a lack of attention to details... More

So, for the second time, the significant other and I visit The Pheasant on Salt Lane in Salisbury. It's worth noting that, in my opinion; this is a pub that has some tables for dinner rather than the now more and more frequently found pubs that concentrate on the restaurant at the expense of the drinking! That said, it isn't... More

My partner and I had decided to eat at The Pheasat to end our weekend break in Salisbury after suspending the previous evening having a few drinks there and saying to each other how good the food looked. We arrived at around quarter to four and upon requesting food,we were told by one of the friendliest barman I have ever... More

Went here on a Highlife deal, three course meal for two half price. The service and food were excellent. Great size portions really good value for money. Would definitely go again, would also consider a lunchtime because they offer great deals.
