Often compared to a country pub in the middle of the City, The Pheasant is one of Salisbury's oldest pubs, dated back to 1642, nestling in a quiet square a moment's walk from The Market Square ( follow Endless Street opposite The Guildhall and turn right into Salt Lane where you can see the pub ). With two log fires and a wealth of character features, The Pheasant offers a choice of formal dining or less formal bar tables and fireside sofas for a pint of one of the 4 draught ales or a special occasion dinner. Our menu includes traditional pub classics ( steak & ale pudding, beer battered fish & chips, welsh rarebit etc ) and 28 day hung local steaks and grills, with a daily 'specials' selection ranging from cajun blackened salmon fillet, slow cooked lamb shank, confit duck and monkfish with spiced prawns, for example. Always clean, warm and welcoming, The Pheasant is open daily 11 am - 11 pm and offers a host of events to enjoy as well, including weekly live music, a popular quiz night and regular beer and cider festivals - give us a call to check what's on now !

Early evening meal

We have now on a number of occasions popped into the Pheasant for a shared deli platter and glass of wine before going to the theatre and it is always a warm experience. The food is good and well presented and arrives in good time. The setting is good and the staff are engaging and friendly. I... read more

Went in a group of 8 for lunch and the experience could not have been any worse! My chicken and bacon baguette came straight from the 'part baked' packet without even the briefest encounter with an oven, and no bacon to speak of. The rest of the table had very similar experiences but there was no-one to complain to because... More

Thankyou for taking the time to leave a review, and I'm sorry to hear that we fell short of your expectations. On contacting you though, I understand that you visited in March this year - nearly 6 months ago - which ( whilst tripadvisor should show the date of your visit but doesn't ) possibly isn't a fair reflection of... Lovely old building terrible food. Popped in for lunch on a Saturday. Thin, watery soup that didn't match what was written on the board( this was pointed out to us when the soup was brought to the table but no attempt made to change the board) followed by a very bland chicken and asparagus pie...hard to find any asparagus accompanied... Just here for lunch - interesting menu, large & unusual ploughman's, nice range of beers well presented and explained - and regular locals to discuss it with. Surroundings very pleasant, a piece of Old Salisbury well worth visiting.

Myself and my husband had a wonderful lunch at this relaxing pub! full of character and charm. We were greeted by Alex who made us very welcome! The steaks we had were lovely! and the beer battered onion rings very nice! a change from the run of the mill. This was followed by an amazing desert! Eton Mess! I would... More

We came here unplanned and they have been really friendly and welcoming. The food was excellent. Best beer batter I've ever tasted. And the chocolate brownies are great!
