We popped in here between visits (it is next to the Rifles Museum and not far from Mompesson House and Arundells). It is a quaint little place with, apparently, only one young girl serving and the owner preparing drinks etc. Prices were reasonable compared to many places and the service was cheery and excellent. We visited on a Saturday morning... More

We have had the odd coffee in Bernieres over the years, but never a proper meal. We thought we would try it for Sunday lunch with the family. They were fully booked (we took this as a good sign!) but offered us a table outside. They have 8-10 specials all at £8.50 so very reasonably priced. All the food was... More

Such a shame that good quality food and a lovely environment was spoilt by very slow service and waitresses who didn't seem to notice they had customers or want to enhance their experience. It was nearly impossible to attract the attention of staff who seemed to be wandering aimlessly about and when it came to paying the bill it was... More

Many thanks for posting your review of your recent visit to Bernières. I am very disappointed that you found service to be slow and poor as although we are well aware of the problems with service recently following an unavoidable intensive recruiting process, I thought we were on top of this now. I would be extremely grateful if you would... More

I visited the tearoom earlier this week, I wish I had made it in time for the lunch sitting. I hadn't intended to go for lunch -as they are renowned for their cream teas- however after just catching a glimpse of the menu I asked the waitress to place a booking for me and my guests this coming weekend. (I... More

On arrival many of the outside tables had not been cleared- we should have taken this as a warning sign, but unfortunately for us we gave them the benefit of the doubt. We had to ask a few times for our table to be wiped down ( we moved the dirty plates ourselves). Service was dreadful - it took an... More

Yup, you definitely have cause to be unhappy with the service that you had yesterday (I am assuming). I sincerely apologise and yes you should have taken the state of the outside tables as a warning! Unfortunately due to someone calling in sick we only had one professional waitress and one trainee (on her first day) on at the time... More

I visited this tea room twice in one day with two groups of international students. They wanted to sample the real England so I researched the best cream tea in Salisbury and Trip Advisor recommended Bernieres. I rang to get information first and they were very polite and accommodating. It is located in Cathedral Close next to the Military Museum... More

If you didn't try English cream tea, you haven't been to England. Nice place to try real English cream tea is Bernieres Tea Room. It's quite small but very comfortable cafe near the Cathedral. The staff was very friendly. You can try English tea with milk or black tea if you prefer with fresh scones. Add some jam and original... More

Bernieres Tea Room in Salisbury is a really good place for an English Cream tea. The Cafe looks really nice and they have a patio. The scones are very delicious and they are made in Bernieres Tea Room. The customer service is good. It is easy to get to and it is well placed in the centre of the city... More

We were looking for a small cafe and came across Bernieres and ordered cream teas. The tea arrived quickly but we had quite a wait for the scones. However they were probably the best we have had as they were freshly cooked so , on balance , worth the wait !

This is a regular haunt of mine whenever I visit Salisbury- always fantastic food in lovely settings. I went for Sunday lunch, which carries such a reputation locally that booking is almost always essential. On a Sunday this business is obviously set up for one thing- a traditional Sunday lunch, only serving freshly prepared main meals. Maybe this is what... More
