Very good food and a long wine list. Customer service very French. Little choice of non-fish starters

The food was very good, although the menu wasn't explicit about accompaniments (potato / vegetables). The service was typically French. Two different steak choices had exactly the same beans, carrots and square of potato dauphinoise. The scallops starter was delicious. We waited quite a long... read more

The restaurant has a long standing reputation in the local area and it is well deserved. It is traditional style french cuisine done very well. The wine list is excellent and the cellar well stocked. The owner will recommend wine for you based on your menu choices if have trouble deciding. it is not particularly innovative cooking and the restaurant... More

What a delight!! Visited the restaurant many years ago and cannot understand why it has taken us so long to return!! The welcome, the service, the wines and the food were all superb. We could not fault the lunch in any way and we will return sooner rather than later. It was without question a delight. Well done

We'd been meaning to go here for ages and finally managed it. The atmosphere is very French and the food tasty without being fussy - large portions though - but no one worried about us sharing a dessert. Friendly and knowledgeable service. I'm told the house wine was excellent. I'd certainly return (but would probably starve myself beforehand!).

We came here for Mother's Day lunch. Despite the restaurant being very busy, we were given a warm welcome and a comfortable table near the radiator (my mother's favourite place!). The food was rich and beautifully cooked. The menu is very French (with a surcharge for "well-cooked beef"!), don't expect eggs and chips. Despite my parents living within 30 minutes'... More

We have visited many times over a number of years, but only once every couple of years. The food has always been good, but the atmosphere is not for us, perhaps its a French thing!! I am sure that we will visit again in the future but not soon.

A pleasant restaurant in a good location facing out onto the forest. A good choice of food on the set menu backed up by more choice on the a la carte. Very good waitress service and a very full wine list. We will certainly visit again

The French lead the way in fine food and dining and this restaurant, which was established in 1994, has an outstanding local reputation for the range and quality of its French cuisine. A la carte and Table d'hote menus are both available with the menus following the traditional English system of 'starters' and 'main' courses. However, if you enjoy quality... More

Friends brought us here, for a leisurely dinner and a catch up. I read the trip advisor reviews beforehand and was quite optimistic. I was not disappointed in the least. All the various dishes that we ordered were tasty and looked lovely, without being fussy or fiddly. When food is this good, there is no need to mess with it... More
